Boomerang (1992-2014)

Boomerang (formerly referred to as Boomerang from Cartoon Network) is an American cable television network and streaming service owned by Warner Bros. Discovery Networks, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery.

It was launched as a programming block on Cartoon Network on December 8, 1992, before launching it own channel on April 1, 2000.

Why It Used To All Come Back To You

1. It focused on classic cartoons from the WB library:
   1. Warner Bros. Cartoons/Warner Bros. Animation: (Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, The Bugs Bunny Show, Duck Dodgers, The Looney Tunes Show).
   2. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (pre-1986): (Tom and Jerry, Droopy, MGM cartoons).
   3. DC Comics: (Super Friends, Batman, Superman, Justice League, Teen Titans, Young Justice).
   4. Hanna-Barbera: (Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo, SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron).
   5. Other properties: (Popeye the Sailor, ThunderCats).
2. Airs reruns of classic Cartoon Network shows such as Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, I Am Weasel, and The Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, Chowder and also acquired shows like The Pink Panther Show and Pokémon.
3. Among many others, and eventually grew into its own separate channel in 2000, it also aired most of the shows for the marathon, such as Boomeraction and Boomerang 10-Day Marathon.
4. Boomerang would also air some films from Warner Bros. as well as other studios during marathons and holidays.
5. Ever since 2004, when the programming block ended, most of the classic shows (with the exception of Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry) moved to Boomerang's main channel, so that Cartoon Network would air new programming.
6. The websites for games and videos were great back then, and the commercials, bumpers and promos were also fun to watch.
7. It even paid to the tribute for the people during the block on Cartoon Network, such as William Hanna, Joseph Barbera and Chuck Jones.
8. Boomerang was also launched in other countries as well, such as Mexico, Brazil, UK, and the rest of Europe.
9. Its theme song (composed by Michael Kohler and Marcus Miller) was amazing.
10. In 2017, Boomerang launched an over-the-top subscription service focusing on classic cartoons for a very low price.

Bad Qualities

1. The channel has gone downhill since 2015, due to removing most of the classic cartoons and/or placing them in death slots as well as rebranding the logo.
   • Speaking of which, they never got a chance to air some shows like Sheep in the Big City, Time Squad and Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi.
   • They even began to air original programming focusing primarily on reboots of popular legacy franchises such as Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry and Scooby-Doo. Though the reboots here can range from good (The Tom and Jerry Show (2014), New Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?) to mediocre (Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!) to bad (the 2017 Wacky Races reboot).
2. Even before the 2015 downfall, it has been declining in quality in the 2010s especially in 2013-2014 as they started adding more Cartoon Network shows, although that's not a bad thing, did phase out the older cartoons.
   • They aired Hole in the Wall once in 2010, which is a live-action show. It has no purpose to be on there (neither did Cartoon Network at the time), especially since it's too new to be on a network that airs classic cartoons
   • They aired Puppy in My Pocket: Adventures in Pocketville in 2012, which didn't belong on Boomerang for obvious reasons. Not to mention that it didn't air on the main network before.
   • In June 2014, older Hanna-Barbera shows have been removed from the channel in favor for more Cartoon Network's older shows.
   • In December 2014, they've added Teen Titans Go! and The Amazing World of Gumball to the channel, which were both way too new to be on there.
3. While many of the bumpers were memorable, some of them could be frightening for some. The theme song for Boomerang, while awesome, is unsettling due to the amount on synths it uses, and the fact that it's in a minor key and very bombastic and plays with little to no warning.
   • Some of the bumpers would also have characters invade the audience's personal space.
