Cubix: Robots for Everyone (Korean: 큐빅스) is a Korean CGI animated action science fiction television series made by Cinepix and Daewon Media that first aired on August 11 2001. It aired on Kids WB in the United States.

Plot

In the year 2044, a boy named Connor moves to Bubble Town with his father Graham who does not like robots. Over there, he finds a robot named Cubix and becomes friends with him.

Bad Qualities

  1. The theme song is somehow very unfitting for a show about robots.
  2. Mediocre CGI animation, even for 2001 standards.
  3. All the humans' designs are really creepy and enters in the Uncanny Valley. Geez, they remembers the Butt-Ugly Martians' ones.
  4. The Botties are stereotyped really badly. Chip is the nerdy kid with glasses, Mong is the one who constantly binge eats and Abby is the typical sassy girl.
  5. Dr. K’s plan of deactivating Cubix and taking his Solex crystals is very generic.
  6. It can feel like a rip-off of The Iron Giant sometimes because of the similar concept of a young boy fixing a giant robot.
  7. Dondon is very annoying and distracting.

Good Qualities

  1. The CGI animation, while is obsolete and with much animation errors, is surprisly good, has aged well and can look quite nice.
  2. Some designs of the humans, like the Dr. K and Abby's ones, aren't so bad.
    • Speaking of designs, the robots' ones are cute.
  3. The soundtrack is really good, despite the theme song being unfitting as stated in BQ#1.
  4. The video game tie-ins are really enjoyable to play.
  5. Graham does care about Connor despite disapproving of his hobby.
  6. The voice acting is decent, as most of the voice actors were from 4Kids Entertainment. However, the most notable one is the fact that Kan-It is voiced by (we kid you not on this one) the late Steve Irwin in the English dub.

Trivia

  • This show reran in the late 2000's on The CW4Kids which replaced Kids WB and again in 2012 on Vortexx which replaced The CW4Kids.
  • Daewon Media later improved with their next show, Iron Kid.
  • It received three video game tie-ins called Cubix: Robots for Everyone: Showdown, Cubix: Clash 'n' Bash and Cubix: Race 'n' Robots. It also received lots of toys based on the show and a promotion for Burger King.
