Thanks for trying and successfully destroying or messing up someone's property, Patrick! Chances are, nobody in the place got ostracized for that blunder.

"Wasn't me!"
— Patrick
House Sittin' For Sandy is the thirteenth episode of the eighth season of SpongeBob SquarePants.
Synopsis
SpongeBob agrees to be Sandy's house sitter, but things go wrong when Patrick arrives.
Why It Should Sit Down
- Roughly half of the episode is just Sandy explaining everything in the tree dome.
- Then immediately afterward, SpongeBob does about everything she said, wasting even more run time. Making half of the episode filler.
- Patrick is shoehorned and ends up causing trouble, and then SpongeBob slowly and painfully tells Patrick not to cause any mischief.
- The face SpongeBob without a water helmet after Patrick tells him about the helmet is incredibly disturbing to look at. Sure, SpongeBob may have been dehydrated without water in Sandy's treedome before, but at least it never looked this disturbing back then.
- This scene, as well as all of Patrick's scenes, were the last-minute addition as the animators forgot to add a water helmet to SpongeBob and likely did not have enough time to redo the treedome scenes to include it. This indicated that the episode was somewhat rushed.
- Rushed Ending: Sandy draws a ray gun and shoots everything to repair the entire tree dome. Afterward, SpongeBob accidentally causes the robots to destroy the tree dome, and a robot destroys the ray gun.
- Turns out she had planned SpongeBob to wreck her tree dome, so she can test out her new ray gun to repair her tree dome, making that scene a deus ex machina.
- Sandy blaming SpongeBob for destroying her house does not make sense, because she saw that it was the robots who destroyed it. SpongeBob and Patrick didn't destroy anything. That's like saying that Plankton invaded Bikini Bottom when his soldiers did the dirty work.
- Why didn't she just tell him to destroy the tree dome with the robots?
- This is the same ending that was from To Save a Squirrel.
- Not to mention, Sandy gets mad at SpongeBob for messing her house when it should be Patrick's fault since he was responsible for wrecking her house. Granted, SpongeBob did drop his flask that made the robots come to life, but that was only because he was annoyed at Patrick's idiocy.
Redeeming Qualities
- Patrick technically does save SpongeBob's life with a water helmet.
- Funny moments such as:
- The robot destroys Sandy's ray gun.
- Sandy's robots wrecking the treedome apart.
- Had the animators not forgotten a water helmet to SpongeBob, the original version of this episode would have likely turned out much better.
Reception
- MoBrosStudios ranked this episode as the 10th worst SpongeBob episode, citing the uninspired ending and bombardment of filler that plagued the episode.
- IMDB ranked this episode 5.5/10. Some of this could be for the next episode though...
Trivia
- Similar to the episode "Pranksta Rap" from The Simpsons, a screencap from this episode where SpongeBob looks at a calendar when it is Sunday the 26th is an Internet meme. It gains attention when it is the 26th of any month but only if it falls on a Sunday.
