Jupiter On The Loose is the 5th episode of season 8 of Fireman Sam.

Why Jupiter Was On The Loose

  1. Norman Price is extremely reckless and selfish in this episode, as he drives Jupiter almost costing him and his cousin, Derek's life.
    • To be fair, back in Open Day, he had a desire of becoming a firefighter, which is justifiable, but the way he took it, was too cruel and mean-spirited.
    • Plus, what he did actually committed underage driving, and is never arrested for that stunt.
  2. Elvis is already idiotic, as he put his cottage pie on top of Jupiter, and what he did got Norman and Derek in more trouble, therefore making him an idiot.
  3. Derek, while tolerable, still doesn't do anything to stop his cousin.
  4. Two bad morals:
    • Playing a video game can help you succeed in life, although on the long run it doesn't, unless it's a streaming service.
    • Drive a vehicle underaged without getting arrested. Doing that would actually cost you your life.
  5. 2 plot holes in this episode:
    • How did nobody notice Norman and Derek leaving to get on Jupiter?
    • What caused Elvis' pie to fall of the ground and break? Derek closing the right-handed door couldn't have caused it to do it quickly!
  6. Poor voice acting in the UK dub as usual, particularly Norman, Elvis and Derek's voice by Steven Kynman.
  7. Elvis complaining about his broken pie shows of how much of a big baby he can be. You even saved the boys' life.
  8. Horrible ending: Because of what happened to Elvis' cottage pie, Norman and Derek where forced to bake another one, much to their annoyance.
    • The saddest part of the ending: Derek got tortured by his cousin's antics. He should have been rewarded with a badge, but the writers tried to make him a scapegoat.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The rest of the characters are still tolerable as usual.
  2. Sam reprimanding Norman about underage driving was satisfying, although the moral was executed horrendously.
  3. The US dub is decent as usual.

Reception

It currently has a 4.2 on IMDb.[1]Here's what one reviewer said about the episode.

Jupiter's juvenile joyriders!

This is one of those memorable, also mildly bad Fireman Sam in CGI with Norman Price at his worst, again. He and his cousin, Derek, up to the whole know-it-all experts about being firefighters, from playing a video game. As they accompany rest of the pioneers, Sarah, James and Mandy, I don't know if expected Hannah Sparkes as well, otherwise some viewers question how Hannah got up the stairs in the fire station, whilst in her wheelchair. Sam and Penny show them like breathing apparatus, and different fire extinguishers, there's more stuff, like use stairs, and not the lifts, even evacuating a public building in event of a fire.

Quite unfortunate PC Malcolm Williams and Sergeant Ravani weren't in this episode, they could've had Norman in trouble, and in juvenile centre for stealing and driving a public services vehicle throughout the town, without driving license. Seems someone foolishly left keys in ignition, as to how Norman started up Jupiter's engineーit couldn't just roll downhill, like Sarah accidentally released handbrake in nurse Helen's ambulance, in the, "Car Wash Chaos" episode. Norman and Derek getting comeuppance in cooking another cottage pie after Elvis' first one ruined, though shouldn't have left it on top of Jupiter, in case Jupiter needed for emergency and Sam, Penny and Steele are unaware, surprised how it stayed on Jupiter's roof throughout Norman's joyriding, until it fell off when Derek closed driver's door.
