"Mega-Bernie" (French: Maxi Bernie) is a episode from season 4 of Zig & Sharko.
Plot
Thanks to a potion, little Bernie becomes huge. Zig may train him to fight against Sharko, but Maxi Bernie can't play the bad guy, especially when Marina comes to offer him activities...
Why It Mega Sucks
- Zig is extremely unlikable in this episode due to being incredibly selfish, for lot of reasons that are mostly towards Bernie.
- First off, he always insult him when it come to having fun instead of being the bad guy and because of that, he always feel bad and feel that he isn't allowed of having fun.
- Secondly, he even goes as far as insulting Bernie when he played musics instead of hurting Sharko and because of that, he even goes as far as crying and Zig doesn't give a crap about that and instead continues his wrong move, which make Bernie extremely angry and chase him when he get Marina.
- All in all, it is probably the episode where he is at his absolute worst, even more than other bad episodes of season 4.
- It is a huge 7 minutes torture episode for Bernie, especially because of Zig himself.
- It is a bit of a rehash from "The Tiny Tyrant", only instead Bernie is bigger and also get stronger because of the potion, that episode by the way was no better.
- The episode is extremely repetitive as the insult scenes from Zig are pretty much the same, and there's three of them, same goes for the scenes where it close up to Maxi Bernie face for 3 seconds, which can almost be counted as fillers.
- Plot Hole: If Bernie can't play the bad guy, why does Zig don't try to take Marina when Sharko got distracted, with that it could have avoided the insult sequences from him to Bernie.
- Bernie is also a little bit annoying due to not playing the bad guy but still remain likable.
- Although he cannot play the bad guy because Marina propose him to do activities, he still can play the bad guy to Zig, which doesn't make senses but even then it was because he was incredibly unlikable and mean to him, and even if after he caught Zig, he cannot be considered unlikable because Zig clearly deserved it.
- The beginning was mostly the main reason of why the episode got screwed, since the potion that make someone really big instead gone to Bernie mouth and not Zig, and this could be a missed oportunity.
- This episode contain some fillers scene, such as when Zig got punched out of the ship or when Zig and Bernie play rock paper cisor, before that the latter win and hurt Zig.
- Overall, this episode is so bad that it ended up being one of, if not the worst episode of not only the season 4 but also of the whole show due to how mean-spirited it is and because of how much fillers it had, it doesn't even help that the episode had repetitive scenes.
Redeeming Qualities
- Maxi Bernie is cute, much like the ordinary design of Bernie.
- Sharko, Bernie and Marina are likable characters.
- Good ending: Zig offer a gift to Bernie to apologise and he love it since it is the music stuff that he kicked out in one part of the episode, and after Bernie happen to love it, Zig take a picture to having a memory of this.
- The plot idea of this episode could have easily worked if it wasn't for how mean-spirited it is.
- At least Zig got consequences for his actions toward Bernie, as Bernie got enough and chased him when he did get Marina.
