Next Earth is a Call TV show made by TeleMedia Interaktív Szolgáltatások Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság. It was started on November 20, 2023, on TV Óčko. The show was also existed from April 1, 2024 to April 14, 2024 on Sporty TV. This show involves an idea to buy a $10 Next Earth Metaverse gift card (titled a voucher in the show).
Why It Shouldn’t Call To The Next Earth Studio
- Cash grab: As said from its name, like the 2018-2021 episodes of Rychlá hra, it’s aimed at promoting something, but this time, the $10 Next Earth Metaverse gift cards, which are titled as vouchers in the show, and exploiting the Next Earth's likeness for a quick buck. It makes the show nothing more but a simple advertisement for the Next Earth.
- Also, the “Voucher” in the gift card design looks like it was photoshopped. This problem is also present on the Sporty TV version.
- The show itself is extremely uninspired, ripping off several elements from other Call TV shows, like using psychological tricks to persuade people to call a premium-rate phone number (which costs 95 CZK in the Czech Republic and 2 EUR in Slovakia per call), the contest tasks, and even using the solution envelopes in some tasks mentioned below.
- The biggest pitfall: This awaits the caller after dialing the premium-rate phone number on the screen. This number does not work as a direct connection to the TV studio, as a naive and uninformed viewer might think when the host on the screen constantly complains about the fact that the phone is not ringing and no one is calling. After calling the phone number, there will be an immediate connection, but precisely and only to buy the Next Earth gift card and keep the caller on the line as long as possible.
- The tasks are also extremely uninspired, showing signs of laziness. This includes:
- Finding the differences in pictures.
- Finding the human faces hidden in the picture or coffee beans.
- Searching the word that has one or a few predetermined letters.
- Searching for the name of the animal in the envelope.
- Searching the car brand in the envelope.
- Searching the profession in the envelope.
- Searching for the female name in the envelope.
- Searching the country or Czech city in the envelope.
- Finding the picture that is different from others.
- Finding the Czech cities from the table of predetermined letters.
- Making the names of Czech cities from jumbled letters.
- Very hard tasks, especially those that have multiple possible solutions. Not every answer that meets the specified criteria is recognized as correct by the audience, but only the one that is listed as correct in a sealed envelope, which (in most cases) the host opens at the end of the show.
- The probability that the envelope will contain a common, expected Czech name, Czech city, female name, name of animal, or car brand is low. Most likely, there will be a name inside the envelope that almost no one will know. If, despite these obstacles, one of the viewers manages to determine the correct solution to the contest question, this does not mean that he will be happy about his win. It is common for TeleMedia to simply not show the winning amount to the winner.
- Like every Call TV show, the audience's determination to participate in the game is encouraged by the host who emphasizes how easy the contest question is, how attractive the prize offered is, repeats that still no one calls, threatens that the end of the show is approaching and the prize will be forfeited. When a caller is already connected to the studio, his chances of winning are low. The moderator leads him out of his assumption that he knows the correct answer when the host marks a different answer as the correct solution. Most of the time, the audience will not even find out how it was possible to arrive at the published "correct solution" in the first place[1].
- Some correct answers are objectively incorrect, i.e. the identification of the correct answer consists of such a rationally unclear condition that the contestant can’t identify it.
- Incredibly stock music, as always.
- Quantity Over Quality: The show has been going for more than 10 months, it already has over 239 episodes on TV Óčko and 14 episodes on Sporty TV as of now. The show is still in production as it currently has no sign of ending despite its flaws.
- On February 16, 2024, the length of the show on Fridays & Saturdays has been increased to 120 minutes. As a result, TeleMedia has decided to make some tasks on these days harder, for example, finding 1 picture that is different in the 200-picture grid or 250-picture carousel.
The Only Redeeming Quality
- Surprisingly, the theme song may be seen as catchy.
