Power Moves is the 30th episode of the 1st season of Teen Titans Go!.

Synopsis

Beast Boy likes doing power moves with Cyborg, but when Robin starts doing power moves with Cyborg instead, he gets very jealous.

Why It Powerfully Sucks

  1. Two factors make the episode VERY BAD: there’s a very glaring plot hole that could’ve made the episode better and Robin acts like a spoiled brat for the majority of the episode. Details will be explained below.
  2. After witnessing Cyborg and Beast Boy doing power moves, the Titans have them demonstrate and suddenly want to do power moves with each other, the plot quickly devolves at this point.
  3. The sequence with Beast Boy asking the other Titans to do power moves is jarring and seems like a forced ploy to make the audience feel sorry for Beast Boy.
  4. For some reason, Starfire's fire is fuchsia instead of being lime.
  5. Afterwards, Robin becomes jealous of Cyborg and Beast Boy’s power moves and decides to force Cyborg to do power moves against his will. It makes Robin unlikable and it makes no sense either…. If Robin REALLY WANTED TO DO POWER MOVES, he could’ve respected Cyborg’s wishes and went to ask the other Titans like Beast Boy did in the previous scene, he could’ve done a power move with Beast Boy since everyone else rejected him. He did not ask them and did not think of them as an option. This makes no sense! It looks more like Robin wants Cyborg all to himself like a creepy stalker, not someone who wants to do power moves.
  6. The montage of Robin moving into Cyborg’s body, controlling it, and going around town with Birdarang and Boombox (who were created during Robin and Cyborg’s quarrel) and mixing things together (such as food and sports) is just disgusting. Cyborg’s face with trying the pizza, pasta, ice cream dish is our reaction to the entire scene.
  7. Several days later, Cyborg has it with Robin’s brattiness and wants him out of his body. The Titans (sans Robin) do a power move to knock Robin out, destroying Cyborg in the process.
  8. Bad ending: The Titans slay Cyborg but Robin is unharmed and he DOESN'T APOLOGIZE FOR STEALING CYBORG NOR DOES HE GET ANY SORT OF CONCEQUENCES! They then leave to practice power moves and abandon Cyborg’s head and demolished body. He cries for help but they ignore his cries, making them once again, bad friends. It’s also very cruel and makes you feel sorry for Cyborg. However, despite that, Beast Boy saved Cyborg's life and appreciated by it.
  9. Power moves are never mentioned and use again after this episode, rendering this episode completely pointless, but than again most episodes of the series has no continuity.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Despite 80% of Cyborg and Beast Boy’s power moves just throwing each other around (even the Titans mention it) it’s admittedly cool.
  2. Robin and Cyborg create Birdarang and Boombox, who will go on to be recurring characters in the series, thus making them the only important part of this rather pointless episode.
  3. At least the Titans call Robin out for his abhorrent actions and bratty behavior.
  4. Although a one time thing, the power moves are still cool to watch.
  5. The Titans (except Robin) are all likable.
