Ronald "Ronnie" McNutt (May 23, 1987 – August 31, 2020) was a 33-year-old American man and US Army Reserve veteran from New Albany, Mississippi, who committed suicide on Facebook Live. The video gained widespread attention from trolls posting the video on social media.

Incident

On August 31, 2020, 33-year-old Ronnie McNutt was sitting behind a desk. At around 9 pm, as he began drunkenly commenting about wanting to commit suicide, his viewers started to alert family members and friends. According to Joshua Steen, Ronnie struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. At around 10 pm, he picked up a rifle, put it close to his face, and shot himself, leaving blood and internal organs exposed. McNutt died instantly from the gunshot wound to the face. Despite the graphic nature of the video, Facebook didn't block it. The video of his death remained on Facebook for almost three hours. His death video has gone viral and has since been shared on social media, such as Instagram and TikTok. The video was also disguised under innocent-looking thumbnails. To make matters worse, young children have seen the video. One mom claimed that her 14-year-old daughter cried and felt sick after seeing the video. Trolls have been harassing McNutt's family, making fake accounts and claiming that he faked his death.
