Sylvie and the Wogglebug (also known as The Wogglebug and Sylvie and the Enchanted Forest) is an animated film made by Cynthia Hanson in 2016.

Plot

Sylvie is a foster child who is afraid of her surroundings. She discovers a magical key and gets transported away to a fantastical world. Mr. Wogglebug leads her there to find her key and reopen the portal to her own planet.

Why This Film Doesn't Deserve a Big Hug

  1. In the beginning of the film, they use default text, which is already off to a bad start since gives the feeling that the movie was poorly made.
  2. The animation is horrifyingly awful and extremely low-quality, even by 2010 standards. It looks very similar to a 2000s MMORPG that you would play and slowly forget existed.
    • Sometimes, they even place random emotes to make the film less boring, but it ends up looking extremely out of place instead. For example, you can see Wogglebug dancing for no reason while he is talking to Sylvie.
  3. As if the animation wasn't gross-looking enough, the voice acting is very poor as well; the characters speak in a monotone voice with no effort whatsoever.
    • They didn't even bother to get a voice actor with a high-pitched voice. Instead, they pitched up Wobblebug's voice, and it ends up sounding very low-quality.
    • This film gets even worse when you realize the voice of Sylvie changes during the movie.
    • The film also has different audio levels from different voice actors, which can be very distracting at times.
  4. Speaking of the animation, there are animation errors everywhere and they're not hard to find, especially when they're right in the center of your face.
  5. Very creepy character designs that look like they were stolen from someplace else.
  6. The film can be boring at times, such as in the school scene, where the teacher lectures for a minute and a half with no music in the background.
    • There was another scene further into the film where Sylvie and the Wogglebug talked for five minutes straight.
  7. Wogglebug's name is very dumb. His full name is Mr. Highly Magnified Wogglebug Thoroughly Educated, yet it doesn't make sense as to why that's his initials.
  8. The musical number in which Wogglebug describes his story is very bad because the vocals don't line up, among other things.
  9. It feels very unnecessary to have Wogglebug as one of the characters in the film; he is based on a The Marvelous Land of Oz character, but none of the other characters have anything to do with the source material besides him.
  10. The Wogglebug can be seen as unlikable by some people. At the end of most of his sentences, he ends up praising himself for no reason whatsoever.
    • The court candidate is extremely deplorable, seeing as how he talks badly about Sylvie and Mr. Wogglebug for a whole minute.
  11. The backgrounds look very low-quality, even by 2010 standards.
  12. Extremely bad camerawork; sometimes it can be very shaky.
  13. Unfunny jokes made by Mr. Wogglebug that will leave you with a straight face.
