"Take and Fake" is the thirty-second episode in the seventh season of The Fairly OddParents.

Plot

Timmy borrows Mark Chang's "iFake" disguising device in order to attend Trixie's costume party. Unfortunately for him, his lack of knowledge about Yugopotamian technology puts him in a tight spot when he accidentally puts the device in shuffle mode, turning him into different monsters.

Why It’s Fake

  1. This episode is a clear sign of the writers intentionally ignoring/breaking continuity as the show goes on. Examples:
    • How did Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof get invited to Trixie's costume party? and how come Wanda didn't question this?
    • Mr. and Mrs. Turner appear back inside Trixie's house when Timmy is being thrown out of the party, even though they were thrown out themselves earlier in the episode, and appear outside again in the bushes moments later.
    • Cosmo claims to not be able to read in this episode, yet he had read perfectly fine in countless episodes before. This may just be another generic "Cosmo is stupid" gag that was constantly spammed on his character as the show went on.
    • Why would Mark need a portable iFake in the first place when he constantly wears a Fake-ifer to change his form anyway?
    • Mark Chang should have been disgusted by the beautiful "girls" he was hanging around with since he is a Yugopotamian and it has been shown that Yugopotamians hate anything that's pretty and love anything that's ugly. Also, he is attracted to Vicky because of her cruelty, so why would he be attracted to other girls?
      • Ironically, Vicky appeared as a guest in Trixie's costume party.
  2. Mr. Crocker sees Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof, only to brush them off as just costumes. While Mr. Crocker is a bit of a numbskull at times, he isn't completely stupid to not sense something magical nearby.
  3. Timmy decides to be fake instead of just simply trying many other ways to impress Trixie like he usually would.
  4. Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof show no concern for Timmy at all throughout the episode, even after they were "invited" to Trixie's costume party.
  5. Annoying and predictable running jokes such as Timmy finding things that are green and look like a tentacle that is not Mark Chang, as well as his parents looking for shrimp.
    • Timmy's parents are even dumber than usual.
  6. Awful ending: It is revealed that Trixie was actually Tootie in disguise all along, which shows that she was the one who tricked Timmy into coming to Trixie's costume party and that Cosmo stupidly misread the mail which was an invitation for Timmy, not his fairies. Timmy wishes for Tootie to be launched away and, when the real Trixie shows up, giving Timmy's fairies a trophy full of shrimp for having the best costume, she launches Timmy away in the same way that he did to Tootie, implying that Trixie never invited Timmy to her costume party at all.
  7. This episode overall feels like a watered-down version of Season 2's "Scary Godparents" since both episodes have a very similar premise, except this episode just ignores Da Rules, dumbs down almost every character, and does not have the theme of Halloween within.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The premise of a device that allows you to morph into anyone is kinda interesting and creative, but it was just not well executed and also not very original, since Mark Chang already has that ability and fairies can also change forms as well, meaning this plot point has been done many times before.
  2. There still a few decent and funny moments here and there.
  3. Tootie's line "I don't care what my therapist says, I will always love you Timmy Turner!"
