"I don't want to play with you anymore!" - Peppa Pig

"The Quarrel" is the 43rd episode of Season 2 of Peppa Pig.
Plot
Peppa and Suzy declare they are no longer friends after they get into a fight playing Snap.
Oh Snap! Why It Sucks
- The titular quarrel is both unrealistic and extremely petty: Peppa loses two games of Snap, and so she decides to call Suzy out for winning by coming to the conclusion that she "cheated".
- Peppa comes across as very unlikable in this episode as she pretty much just whines about the fact that she didn't win in a game of Snap with Suzy; as mentioned earlier, she even comes to the conclusion that she "cheated" all because she "looked at the card", which makes zero sense whatsoever because Suzy was clearly playing by the rules; the "looking at the card" excuse that Peppa makes is just plain ridiculous because that's how Snap is supposed to work!
- As a matter of fact, because Peppa didn't win a single game, she ends her friendship with Suzy over it, which is even more ridiculous and unrealistic. Sure, it's common that friends can get into arguments about winning games in real life, but never to this degree.
- Even when Peppa tries to apologize to Suzy on the phone, she still calls her a cheater, proving that she can't handle any form of losing in a game.
- The line "You're not my best friend anymore!" is overused here, and it can get on your last nerves real fast.
- Mummy Pig is a bit dumb here too as she believes that Peppa and Suzy will make up with each other by a phone call. She didn't see what happened, so why would she think they would make up that easily?
- When putting the quarrel aside, the episode itself is boring and nothing really interesting happens in it.
- It tells a bad so-called "moral" about apologizing as it claims that simply saying "Sorry" will completely fix everything. While apologizing sometimes works, simply saying the aforementioned word doesn't instantly fix everything, and in some cases, apologizing won't excuse your wrongdoings.
- Peppa and Suzy get into another quarrel in the end because the former assumed the latter cheated in a game of golf. Thankfully, before the entire episode could start all over again, Daddy Pig broke the fight up by saying that they're just the same.
- While the ending was good, Peppa didn't get any consequence nor punishment for whining about the fact that she didn't win a game of Snap with Suzy.
- The events of this episode were never mentioned nor brought up again, though it could be possible that the events of the episode were forgotten or ignored, and Peppa and Suzy also act like the quarrels didn't even happen at all in later episodes, which just makes it a filler episode.
- The episode suggests that you can only have one best friend, even though in reality, you can have as many as you like.
Redeeming Qualities
- Daddy Pig is likeable as he does try to help the situation by getting the two to apologize to each other, and he even prevents the episode from starting all over again by breaking up the second quarrel.
- George is tolerable too as he didn't cry once in the episode. The same can be said for his best friend Richard.
- Emily, Candy, Suzy, Danny, Pedro, Rebecca, and Zoe are still tolerable characters as usual.
- Despite how unlikeable Peppa is in this episode, she didn't really shame her father and/or bully her brother this time.
- Pretty good ending: Peppa and Suzy did say sorry to each other, and they became friends again. Also, unlike last time, Peppa did apologize to Suzy properly.
- Peppa and Suzy hugging each other in the end is the only cute moment in the episode.
- The line "I'm sorry I said you cheated, even though you did cheat." is probably the only funny moment, despite Peppa's unjustified rudeness.
Reception
It has a rating of 4.6/10 on IMDb based on 41 reviews.
Trivia
- This is the only episode to have the playground feature a minigolf course as it only has room for six sections.
- Irony: Peppa and Suzy could've told Mummy Pig the problem, just like how they did in "Chatterbox" and "The Olden Days".
Goofs
- In the original airing when Peppa calls Suzy in which she picks up, the latter's house is shown backwards. This was fixed in the restored airing in 2011.
- When Rebecca slides down to join her best friend Zoe, the former has Peppa's voice from the first season.
