The title really follows the state of the project.

Abandoned was a scam and fake videogame announcement based around the alleged development of an indie PS5 exclusive developed and published by Blue Box Studios. The game was announced on the PlayStation channel on April 7th, 2021. The trailer received positive reviews, but it was also the start of the conspiracy theory that Kojima was heavily involved, especially since he was known for cryptic teasers, especially with P.T. (Silent Hills). However, the "game's" "development" turned out to be a mess, with various PR disasters, allegations, lies, that slowly revealed that the game was nothing more than a scam.

April 7th, 2021: The game reveal

The game was revealed out of nowhere on April 7th, 2021, with the trailer being published on the PlayStation channel.

August 2021: The "Tech Demo" Launch and the Company's Shady History

In August 2021, Blue Box would release a "tech demo" for the game titled the Real Time Experience. However, said "tech demo" was negatively received by people, due to the fact that the app was nothing but a clip of another Abandoned trailer

April 5th, 2022: Interviews to Hasan Kahraman

On April 5th, 2022, Hasan Kahraman was interviewed by IGN journalist Destin Legarie and Colin from Last Stand Media. The former interview was negatively received, mostly due to Destin asking a lot of questions that had nothing to do with the game. The latter interview was much more well-received, with Colin asking questions related to the development. However, one thing a lot of people noticed is that when he was asked about the funding of the game, he quickly shifted discussion. Another thing that most people pointed out is that he contradicted himself in both interviews. In Destin's interview, Hasan said that the game was developed in Unreal Engine 5, but in Colin's interview, he said that the game was developed in Unreal Engine 4, raising a lot of suspicions.

June 2022: GameSpot and YongYea expose Hasan Kahraman of manipulation

On June 3rd, 2022, GameSpot published an article titled "Blue Box Dev Behind PS5's Abandoned Misled Fans, Solicited Business Deals In "Toxic" Chatroom". Said article reveals the shady truth about the "development" of the "game" and why it's taking so long. The article told that there was a chatroom full of fans excited for the title and a some of them told to GameSpot that despite claiming that the game would have been released in September 2021, the game isn't actively developed and the only thing that's "active" was the prologue, which Hasan claimed it was on hold because he needed funding, which doesn't exist. GameSpot also revealed that the game constantly changed scope based on what Hasan's fans speculated, most notably the Metal Gear Solid-like teaser, which they speculated to be a game similar to Metal Gear, so it changed to a game whose plot was about a fourth-wall-breaking AI program and secret government cover-ups.

9 days after, on June 12th, 2022, YongYea, would publish a 46-minute video, not only showing GameSpot's report, but also some of the posts that confirm GameSpot's claims about the game's shady truth. A notable example is when it was revealed that despite Blue Box and Hasan denying the conspiracy theories, they used it as a publicity stunt and for clout. YongYea also revealed about the various leaks that show what the game was meant to be behind the scenes, such as a very awful script that feels like a poor man's version of a Metal Gear Solid game, some images and gameplay behind-the-scenes, along with a Twitter thread by Video Game News Insider (or VGIN Gaming News)[1] that says what the GameSpot article claimed, that is the project's lack of a clear vision.

After GameSpot's post and YongYea's video were published, a lot of people, including loyal fans, called out Blue Box Studios and Hasan Kahraman for misleading not only the audience, but also their loyal fans, as well trying to use the scam as a publicity stunt and for clout. After those were released, a lot of people just abandoned the project and felt betrayed by the company.

Aftermath

At this point, even Hasan Kahraman's loyal fans realized that Abandoned was a scam. Even after getting exposed, they still desperately wanted to get clout, by claiming that the project is still in development, although nobody bought their claims.

In November 2022, Hideo Kojima confirmed that he's not involved in the game.
