Five Nights at Freddy's is a horror video game franchise created by Scott Cawthon.

Why It Rocks

Overall

  1. This era marks the biggest evolution of the franchise, as rather than just sticking to 2D with a 3D effect, they fully switched to 3D and it worked impressively well, thanks to the power of the Unreal Engine 4 (and another engine for FNaF AR).
  2. Great graphics for each title, especially Help Wanted and Security Breach, thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 4.
  3. They significantly expand the lore, especially Help Wanted, which reveals that Glitchtrap, a virus in the game according to the lore, is actually William Afton under a virus.

Help Wanted

  1. The game brings back the charm of the first 4 games with new stuff for the game and make it as immersive as possible, making the game a refreshing experience. Not only this made the game perfect for older fans of the franchise, but it also made the game welcoming to newcomers, since the game doesn't force you to know everything about the franchise.
  2. Awesome graphics for 2019 standards that took advantage of the PS VR.
  3. Original and enjoyable minigames such as Parts and Service, Vent Repair and Night Terrors (which recreates Five Nights at Freddy's 4 but with each night having only one animatronic).
  4. Despite ruining the lore and the ending of FFPS, Glitchtrap (a.k.a William Afton) is a terrifying antagonist that can actually scare people.

Bad Qualities

Overall

  1. Deus ex machina (in the lore): Many theories confirm that Glitchtrap, the virus in the game, is actually William Afton that was revived from the scans of the animatronics when the game was in production. He was later defeated in the game only for him to come back in Security Breach. This led to many people making the meme that William Afton always comes back due to him dying multiple times only for him to come back.
    1. This issue also ruined the lore a bit, since FFPS was supposed to be the end of every remaining character in the franchise.
  2. Speaking of the lore, despite expanding it, it also slightly went downhill, with Security Breach being a notable example, due to it making use of the aforementioned deus ex machina and being much more open than hidden.

Help Wanted

  1. There are ports that are considered inferior than the PS4, Xbox and PC versions.
    1. The Nintendo Switch version is the weakest port of the game, due to its very clunky controls, due to the game being originally developed as a VR game, and also suffers from frame drops and downgraded graphics. It's so weak it got a page in the bad media here.
    2. The Oculus Quest port suffers from downgraded and inferior graphics due to it not being as powerful as a PC.
    3. The mobile port suffers from less mini games, downgraded graphics and other issues to be optimized on mobile, although it makes sense since the game was never meant to be a mobile game in the first place. On the bright side, it added an exclusive minigame titled Princess Quest.

The game suffered from a slow downfall until it was completely abandoned by Illumix, because there are no mentions of the game in their social profile and in thier official website. Click this page to see the game's downfall.
