The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder is a 2022 American show created by Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar. It was released on Disney+ on February 23, 2022 and made its linear premiere on Disney Channel on January 7th, 2023 and on Disney XD on January 8th, 2023. The second season premiered on February 1st, 2023. The show received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics and audiences, but later review-bombed once the second season premiered, but the show was still defended by fans of the franchise.

Why It Rocks

  1. This reboot is incredibly faithful to the original show
  2. Splendid animation by Snipple Animation and is a huge step-up from the original show.
  3. Aside from the way it tackled racism, most of the things it tackled were represented very well.
    1. The LGBTQ+ representation is pretty good
  4. Most of the characters still retain their charm.
  5. The art style is very good and faithfully captures the art style of the original show.
  6. It also introduced plenty of characters, such as Maya.
  7. Plenty of good episodes, such as:
    1. New Kids on the Block (which started the series on a decent note)
    2. Bad Influence(r)
    3. Old Towne Road Part 1 and 2 (which ended season 1 and started season 2 on a high note)
    4. BeBe

Bad Qualities

Admin's note: Do not add any pointer that says the show is "woke, anti-white, racist and teaches kids to be racist" because none of these statements are true and are delusional claims made by conservatives after Juneteenth was released.

  1. Curved, The End of Innocence and Juneteenth (the season 2 finale), were absolutely awful and the latter was a terrible way to end said season.
    1. The episodes are very overreliant on promoting and referencing Black Lives Matter, acting like they are the only way to defeat racism, when it's far from true.
      1. The episodes (more specifically Curved) also habe various songs that tackle this and they're completely awful.
      2. The episodes are also filled with plenty of historical inaccuracies, such as completely demonizing Abraham Lincoln, claiming he only emancipated black people despite him actually freeing them.
        • The biggest example of historical inaccuracy in this episode is that Smithville was founded by a slave owner, but Smithville is supposed to be set in California, which was at the time ruled by the Spanish colonial rule, which strictly forbid slavery.
    2. The episode's most infamous and laughable line "Do something with your white privilege!"
    3. Wizard Kelly is extremely unlikable, as he decided to send a bunch of cops to arrest Penny and her friends just because they're protesting against the city positioning a slave's owner's statue, and didn't even care if they're minors.
    4. Even if you compare the way they tackle racism with the original show, it's still incredibly poor compared to the original show.
    5. All of the criticism just shows that Disney outright missed the point of how the original show tackled racial issues.
    6. The episodes were so bad it was recently review-bombed not only these episodes, but also the entire reboot and even the original show is getting review-bombed because of them! Not only that, but these episodes also gave birth to the mentality that the reboot is "woke", which is not true.
  2. A fair amount of bad episodes
    • The aforementioned Curved, The End of Innocence (a mean-spirited Zoe punching-bag episode, and also tackled colorism poorly.) and Juneteenth (which ended season 2 on a sour note).
  3. There are some issues that are still present from the original show:
    1. Dijonay Jones is still an extremely toxic friend to Penny, albeit not as toxic as she was in the original show.
  4. Some things from the original show were sadly changed.
    1. Oscar Proud, while still likable, has some traits changed.
  5. While various things were tackled very well, some of them range from hit-or-miss to flat-out terrible, aside from racism, to the point it can teach bad lessons.
    1. The autism in BeBe, while not bad, could have been handled much better.
  6. There are times where it tries so hard to be hip and modern for kids such as: the cameo of Lil Nas X and overuse of smartphones.

Reception

When it was released, the show received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics, audiences and fans, praising the animation and the representation of several things and being faithful to the original show. It used to have a 6.2/10 on IMDb[1]. However, after the release of season 2, the show was review-bombed by the audience, who now consider the entire show "evil", "woke" and "anti-white", and it currently holds a 3.1/10 on IMDb[2], making it one of the lowest rated shows by Disney. While most people who are critical of the show are mostly right-wing (and occasionally alt-right) who bashed the show with nonsensical criticism such as how the show is "anti-white" and is "teaching kids to be racist" (when none of those statements are true (some people went as far as comparing it to the recent show Velma) and even the infamous Fox News is claiming those false statements), people who are neutral made vaild complaints, such as the way it tackled racism was rather poor in comparison to the original show, but they acknowledge that this thing only happened in the season 2 finale and the entire show doesn't suffer from that flaw. Despite that, fans are still defensive of the show and rightfully don't think the show is woke.
