Yatterman (commonly referred to as Yatterman 2008 or Yatterman Remake) is the 2008 remake of the original Yatterman series that ran for 60 episodes from January 14th, 2008 to September 27th, 2009.

The series follows the same story as the original, but with altered elements, different locations, redesigned characters and cameos from other Tatsunoko franchises.

Why It Rocks

  1. Just like the original ones, this remake is faithful to the original, as it did had all of them for the favorite robots, such as Yatter-Wan, Yatter-Pelican, and Yatter-Angler.
    • What's more is this remake adding a new robots, which is nice for newcomers, even if you're not watching this the original, is still worth to watching. New robots are Dragon, Whale, and Mole.
  2. Great animations that is step up to the original, as the animation quality is really great, even by 2008 standards.
    • What's more interesting is the characters design is vastly improved, they don't look cartoony like the original, but Yatterman mecha are still cartoony look. Look at the Yatterman-1 and 2, these characters is so cute and cool to look at.
  3. The voice actor is really great, as the original voice actors Doronbo Gang has been returned in this remake.
  4. The story still the same, but this time, Dokurobei wanted to collecting the skull rings that scattered around the globe and it's up to Doronbo Gang to find them to restored Dokurobei lives.
    • It still the same good action sequence battle between humans and robots.
  5. There's tons of cameo on this shows, such as Speed Racers, but only if these episode are available only in Japan and not internationally due to licensing issues.
  6. The soundtrack is really good, with small robot soundtracks is nostalgic to hear that.
    • While the music isn't memorable as the original, it's still great to hear that the song.
  7. Tons of funny moments like the original, and thankfully, this inappropriate scenes had been toned down in this remakes.
  8. This punishment scenes by Dokurobei is really funny, even still had a cruel punishment in some episodes.

Bad Qualities

  1. While the remake is faithful to the original, some mecha is not returned in this remake, such as Yatter-Panda, Yatter-Yokozuna, Yatter-Dojira, and Yatter-Phant, which could be disappointed by older fans.
  2. Their video games tie-in are ranging from mediocre to outright bad.
  3. The International versions is cut 4 episodes due to licensing issues, even Speed Racers was aired on Cartoon Network decades ago.
  4. While the music is great, there not memorable as the original.
  5. Still, some punishment can be cruel and unfunny, like the original.
