Sakura Wars (サクラ大戦) is a 1996 cross-genre video game developed and published by Sega (in cooperation with Red Company) for the Sega Saturn. The game was released in Japan on September 27, 1996. Ports for Windows PCs, the Dreamcast and I-Mode mobile phones were released in later years.

Why The Taisho Cherry Blossoms Bloom?

1. The game is amazing as it combines action RPGs with visual novel elements such as decision-making choices.
2. The game has a colorful cast of characters such as:
   • Sakura Shinguji
   • Ichiro Ogami
   • Sumire Kanzaki
   • Maria Tachibana
   • Iris Châteaubriand
   • Kohran Li
   • Kanna Kirishima
3. The game also has a good tactic system.
4. The game has awesome animated FMVs, even the intro sequence.
5. The theme songs for the girls are great to listen.
6. The game started a franchise that became Sega's biggest cash cow during its time, spanning five sequels, a number of spin-offs, live shows and OVAs.

Bad Qualities

1. The game tries to trick you at 100% completion by trying to bond closer with the girls which could be painful at times regarding the decisions you make with them.
2. Similar to other RPGs, the game comes on two discs due to not enough space to fit into one such as story material, FMVs etc..
