Wolf Tracer's Dinosaur Island (also known simply as Dinosaur Island) is an American direct-to-video computer-animated action-fantasy film produced by Colin Slater and Wolf Tracer Studios, infamously known for a visually similar film Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe in Santa.
Plot
A deep-sea fishing expedition comes to a halt when a freak storm appears, and the passengers are washed ashore. Youngsters help the survivors avoid endless hazards and the evil island leader while they try to escape being devoured by the rampaging ravenous carnivores of Dinosaur Island.
Why It Got Devoured
- It rips off Jurassic Park and Arthur Conan Doyle's novel The Lost World.
- While the CGI is slightly better than Rapsittie Street Kids, the animation is still horrid. The character models are blocky and look unfinished with awkward, creepy facial expressions. Just like the humans, the dinosaurs are equally as blocky and texture-less, in which was still due to 3D Choreographer, the outdated software they used from 1992.
- The backgrounds look really ugly, and some background elements are just copy-pasted JPEG images.
- Repetitive and bland dialogue. For instance, one character would say one intangible line, and another would repeat it with confusion.
- It has an extremely generic twist villain.
- The camera work is absolutely ridiculous as it's either a close-up of the characters' faces or bizarre chase sequence.
- Out of all things, the film has the nerve to end on a terrible cliffhanger.
- Some of the music has been stolen from Jurassic Park. Some of them do horrible renditions of them.
- They tried doing a sequel, but due to low ratings, their sequel and the studio was ultimately cancelled and shut down.
Redeeming Qualities
- Decent voice acting, despite the wasted talents.
- The song that plays during the end credits is pretty catchy.
- The human character designs aren't as hideous as Rapsittie Street Kids, although that's not saying much.
- As mentioned before, the animation is actually better than Rapsittie Street Kids, but not by a whole lot.
Reception
It has a very low score of 1.9/10 on IMDb.
