Plot

The story takes place in Istanbul, where a violent criminal organization led by "Spider" (an evil version of Spider-Man) has surfaced in the city and is producing counterfeit United States dollars. They also decapitate a woman with a boat propeller. A small task-force consisting of Captain America, El Santo and Captain America's girlfriend, Julia, arrives to help local police stop Spider's gang.

Julia, who has infiltrated Spider's hideout, is captured and taken to a house in a remote location. She manages to send an SOS signal to Captain America, who saves Julia and chases after Spider, but he manages to escape.

Meanwhile, El Santo infiltrates a dojo that is being used as a front for counterfeiting. After being captured, he manages to escape and takes some incriminating evidence with him.

Captain America and El Santo raid a major hideout where most of the counterfeiting operation is taking place. They manage to shut down the hideout while Spider murders a couple having sex, steals a statue and runs away.

Soon afterwards, another fight between the heroes and Spider begins. It is revealed that there are four Spiders, as one is beaten to death by Santo and another is strangled by Captain America.

Captain America and El Santo then go undercover in a club. Spider's gang notice them and a fight occurs. The heroes are seemingly overpowered this time and are taken to Spider's hideout. Once there, Captain America and Santo act like they are fighting themselves to confuse their captors, but manage to break out and eliminate most of the gang members. Spider arrives at the end of the fight with his girlfriend, only to have her struck by a wild shot from the gun of one of his henchmen. He flees, with Captain America in hot pursuit.

Captain America catches Spider and kills him, only to hear the taunting laugh of yet another Spider clone. The fight continues until the last Spider clone is crushed to death by some cinderblocks.

As the heroes are about to leave Istanbul, Captain America sees the face of Spider in a taxi and furiously runs and removes the mask of the person in the car, only to realize that it was just a child wearing a toy mask.

Why It Sucks

  1. The film is an obvious rip-off of Marvel Comics.
  2. Spider-Man (or, as he's called in this film, "Spider") is portrayed completely out-of-character:
    • Spider isn't a teenage superhero. In this movie, he's a middle-aged man and the leader of the Turkish mafia.
    • Spider doesn't have any superpowers, with the expectation that he can clone himself. He's just goes around killing people at random.
    • This version of "Spider-Man" will make you agree with J. Johan Jameson about Spider-Man.
  3. Spider's costume is absolutely awful (looks like a Halloween costume). It's red and green and has no spider-web designs.
  4. Captain America doesn't have a shield in this movie.
  5. Very low production value.
  6. Gratuitous amounts of violence, with special mention going to a scene where Spider has a pair of flesh-eating guinea pigs eat a man's eyeballs.
  7. The awkward sex scene between Spider and his girlfriend with puppets watching and laughing.
  8. The real El Santo never took his mask off in public until a week before his death. However, his film counterpart barely even wears it.
  9. Hard-to-follow fight scenes.
  10. The soundtrack consists of songs stolen from other films such as Diamonds are Forever.
  11. False Advertising: In the film's poster, Spider-Man can be seen web-swinging. His film counterpart doesn't have any superpowers, though.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. The film is good in a "so bad, it's good" kind of way.

Reception

The film currently holds a 4.2/10 on IMDb, and has a 50% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
