"A Beautiful Mine" is the 19th episode of the first season of The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius. It was first aired on August 1, 2003.
Plot
Cindy and Libby witness a space meteor crash into their front yard. The two then find elusive space rubies inside the meteor. They then show everyone their rubies at the Candy Bar the next day. Jimmy then scans them and tells them that they are the most valuable gems in the universe! Jimmy and the gang then travel to the source of the rubies to mine some more.
Why It's Not Beautiful
- Once again, this is a Jimmy torture episode.
- Everyone in this episode becomes greedy, malicious psychopaths as they literally try to murder each other over stupid space rubies.
- Goddard betrays Jimmy in this episode by revealing his secret ruby stash to the entire gang.
- Cindy is at her worst here as she becomes so aroused with the rubies that she hijacks Jimmy's mining machine to get more rubies for herself.
- Carl & Sheen are out of character in this episode as well as at the end of the episode, they along with Cindy & Libby try to beat Jimmy to death with their shovels.
- The infamous and hard to watch scene where Jimmy accidentally drifted himself and his friends along with Goddard straight to close to Jupiter and at the same time they were getting sucked by the giant planets gravity.
- Horrible ending: After the gang crash down on Earth after being chased down by the Space Bandits, all the rubies get burned up because of the high velocity the ship had after Carl accidentally switched it into high gear. Jimmy then says to the gang that friendship is more valuable than stupid rubies. However, the gang ignores his advice and proceed to chase him down with their shovels for no reason. This makes no sense since Jimmy did not do a single thing wrong to them in this episode and they agreed to use their rubies as fuel. They also should've chased Cindy down instead since she started this whole problem in the first place, but she gets off completely scot-free. They also should've been grateful since Jimmy saved their lives from the Space Bandits.
Beautiful Qualities
- Jimmy calls out the gang for being so greedy.
- It did introduce us to some of the best characters in the show, namely the Space Bandits: Zix, Travoltron, and Tee.
- Some funny moments, like Carl screaming "Ruby Madness! Ruby Madness!".
Reception
It has a rating of 7.3/10 on IMDb.
