A Grand Invitation is the 16th episode of Season 3 and the 50th episode overall of Mr. Bean: The Animated Series

Plot

Mr. Bean enters a worn-out manor after saving the lady's dog's life, but she and her butler treat him like a loyal prince while he is hungry.

Why It's Not A Grand Invitation

  1. This is somewhat of a Mr. Bean torture episode since he is hungry, only to get worse when he is treated like a family due to the lady's orders.
  2. In the opening scene, he attempted to eat a jelly donut because he was hungry, but he was unaware of the POP truck, causing the jelly donut to drop on the back seat, resulting in having a hard time reaching it. Although, Mr. Bean gets one on the floor because he let Teddy drive his Mini, the lady's dog appears to bark resulting in getting interrupted by him.
  3. Plot Hole: If the donut is on the floor of Mr. Bean's Mini, he would get sick from eating that? However, it was backfired multiple times with Max the dog eating it instead.
  4. The lady and her husband treat Mr. Bean as a prince just to make him hungry as a result.
    • He cannot eat fish because it is Binky's birthday, resulting in him getting hungry even more.
    • Even worse, they are revealed to be scammers just to rebuild their manor, which will later make the lady release the dog just to make him bark.
  5. The lady's screaming can get the audience on their last nerve.
  6. When her butler asks Mr. Bean to give his bag to him, he immediately drops it, causing Mr. Bean to sneeze.
  7. The lady freaks out at Mr. Bean just because she believes that he is her husband, not caring about her family regardless.
  8. While it is justifiable to plug out the projector so that Mr. Bean can snatch his donut, Binky's eats it, resulting in getting mad at him.
  9. Shockingly Bad Ending: Max the dog barks outside just like what happened at the beginning of this episode, but this time, the Reliant Regal blocks the way and Mr. Bean ignores it, because if that happens, then he will become a prince. As a result, he is shocked to notice that he is scammed by them.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Mr. Bean is likable in this episode.
  2. Mr. Bean dressing up as a prince is the only scene that is good.
  3. The scene where the lady, her husband, and Mr. Bean show pictures of Binky is also a good scene.
