"A Whistle for Sharko" (French: "Un Sifflet pour Sharko") is the nineteenth episode from season two of Zig & Sharko and the ninety-seventh episode overall. It was written by Olivier Jean-Marie and storyboarded by Cédric Guarnéri.
Plot
In this episode, To neutralize Sharko and catch the mermaid, Zig and Bernie offer him the perfect lifeguard's kit with a golden board and whistle! But Sharko takes his role so seriously that catching the mermaid is impossible...
Why It's A Horrible Lifeguard
- For starter, when Sharko get his board, he become absolutely unlikable and at his absolute worst, to the point of being possibly even worse than in seasons 3-4, as he always force peoples to not getting in the beach and swimming, despite having no dangers whatsoever.
- In fact, when Marina did tell him that it was wrong, he still refuse to let peoples swimming and still continue to think that he the "perfect lifeguard", when he does nothing more than making peoples life miserable on the beach.
- It is a big torture episode for everyone, as Sharko force everyone to not swim, even Marina, despite her being his best friend (if not his girlfriend).
- The episode plot is all over the place and just feel like a very short film placed in after 2 minutes because of either being Sharko not doing his job before looking at the lifeguard, either it is him who try to be the best bodyguard ever, or either it is when he is depressed to had destroyed his board.
- Zig plan could have worked but it didn't goes so well because he didn't know that it would have consequences to his plan since because of what they offered to Sharko, it was completely impossible for him to get Marina and thus it is one of the worst plan he ever had in the season 2.
- The beginning scenes where Sharko get made fun of by some of the peoples is quite mean-spirited, even though the fact that he tried to save a children from just falling but still is okay was laughable at worst.
- Plot Holes:
- Why does Sharko even stop peoples from swimming, since it was just because of Zig making a man robot that does drowning screams, and he even seen that it was not a real person, which just make you wonder how he can be this dumb.
- Why does Sharko ban Marina from swimming, despite that she is his best friend, since this could have been a friendship ruiner, and that almost ruined their friendship.
- Semi-Bad Ending: While Sharko and Marina are still friends, Sharko did transform Zig into an object and thus it is a horrible ending for Zig, even though he wasn't really eating Marina when Sharko wanted to get forgiven and was trying to get out.
Redeeming Qualities
- At least Sharko redeem himself after accidently broke his board, and don't ban peoples from swimming, which is at least a good thing.
- All the characters aside from Sharko are likable.
Trivia
- The lifeguard on Sharko's waterboard is a reference to Mitch Buchannon from the TV show Baywatch, where David Hasselhoff played the character.
