Abunai Sisters: Koko & Mika is a 2009 Japanese computer-animated series of 3D anime shorts to promote tabloid celebrities Kyoko and Mika Kano, starring the two red-headed sisters as secret agents. The show was distributed by Pony Canyon and produced by Production I.G.
The series ran on the Japanese satellite network AT-X and had 10 episodes, but only the first two were ever aired and pulled after only one month on air. The show was originally dubbed into English without a Japanese audio track but subtitled in Japanese.
Overview
The CGI animated video series is about two red-headed women as secret agents.
Why It's Abunai Indeed
- Poor and rigged CGI animation ranging from the animation techniques that they're poorly made in Autodesk Maya to just plain disgusting.
- Furthermore, the ugly art style makes the show look like a Western CGI cartoon, though this is likely intentional.
- Awful and ear-grating voice acting that sounds high-pitched like chipmunks.
- Not even a single plot/premise is seen in this show.
- Terrible and just ugly character designs that don’t even look like anime characters but rejected Barbie and Bratz designs, especially how the villains look!
- An uncanny number of scenes focusing on the central characters' big breasts.
- The series tries to be very funny, but it's not even in the slightest.
- It is the bastard lovechild of Funny Pets, Popee the Performer, and Dyogrammaton.
- Speaking of the first two shows, the show looks like it was made by Ryuji and Wakako Masuda.
- Too many sex scenes and violence making it a gross-out show, unlike Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, which does this better. Heck, not even Nikutai Ten'i would go this far!
Redeeming Qualities
- Catchy theme song: however, it can be a bit annoying.
- The show can be seen as "so bad, it's hilarious".
- The entire series was uploaded to YouTube with fixed audio, not the high-pitched voices. This makes the voice acting much more tolerable and very pleasant to listen to. Take a look.
Reception
It currently has a score of 3.2 on IMDb and an even lower score of 2.6 on MyAnimeList.
Trivia
- The series is based on the Japanese celebrities, the Kano sisters.
