Aftermath Aftermayhem is the 18th episode of Total Drama World Tour and the 72nd episode overall of Total Drama.
Plot
While Bridgette is lost in Siberia to meet with a gray bear, called Bruno, Geoff, and the now-fired Blaineley take over as the Aftermath hosts. The Peanut Gallery contestants participate in a game show, called Total Drama Second Chance, but many of them do not qualify, except for a few.
No Second Chance Qualities
- While this episode has an interesting concept where contestants will have a second chance to participate in Total Drama after getting eliminated, it is a torture fest, and it shows.
- Blaineley capturing Bridgette in the Aftermath and then transporting her to Siberia is mean-spirited since she wanted her to shoot on a special report.
- When Blaineley introduces Tyler, he suddenly appears... only to hurt his head later, which is a terrible first impression on his first Aftermath introduction.
- Only Leshawna, Lindsay, Noah, Tyler, and Beth participate in Total Drama Second Chance, and none of the 9 peanut gallery contestants get a chance.
- The infamous "Blaineley's Best Moments" montage:
- Blaineley attempts to eat a pizza slice, but it falls on the floor. It also reveals toenails, a bandage, flies, and a brown chunk of mud resembling feces. Not to mention, she eats it, which is disgusting.
- She uses a belt sander to trim her toenails for her pedicure. Her foot also has pimples, which is also gross.
- Error: Her bracelets were red instead of gold during this moment.
- She burps and farts at the same time as she reveals to be secretly overweight, which is, once again, gross. Worse, her burping and farting destroys the screen.
- Worst of all, this scene not only is a pointless filler, but also makes the viewers feel sorry to Blaineley.
- Missed opportunities:
- Eva, Katie, and Sadie a second chance to participate Total Drama World Tour, instead only Beth gets a chance, despite the fact that she already participated Total Drama Action.
- Instead of Blaineley's Best Moments, it would have been another song to introduce the challenge.
- Plot holes:
- How was it possible for Blaineley to destroy the screen whilst burping and farting at the same time?
- It is unknown what happened to Lindsay after completing the challenge about using Swedish meatballs for juggling.
- Tyler, Noah, and Leshawna fail to compete for the second chance:
- Tyler suddenly falls into the trapdoor when landing on the Sweden flag panel, which is disappointing since he is injured at that time.
- Noah lands on the Area 51 panel, which contains dodging the lasers, but one of the lasers shoot on his butt, causing the aliens to chase him.
- Leshawna lands on the Australia panel, which she faces the Kangaroo. However, the Kangaroo knocks her with a single blow. Harold also helps her defeat the kangaroo but still beats him up with a single blow.
- When Blaineley shouts "Der Schnitzel Kickers" to the audience, she suddenly wins the challenge, which is stupid.
- Not to mention, she described Der Schnitzel Kickers as a London-based punk band when it was described as German in "I See London...".
- Predictable ending: As Blaineley wins the Total Drama Second Chance, she refuses, but the interns capture her, despite getting comeuppance for not only kidnapping Bridgette, but also shouting the answer to the audience and Beth.
Second Chance Qualities
- Everyone, except Blaineley and the kangaroo, is likable in the episode.
- Seeing the Aftermath having the concept of turning it into a game show is interesting, despite being poorly executed.
- Bridgette and Bruno's sub-plot is heartwarming.
- Geoff's song, "Her Real Name Isn't Blaineley", is hilarious.
- Lindsay not laughing after seeing clips of Tyler getting injured can be seen as sweet and caring since she is Tyler's girlfriend.
- Despite the predictable ending, Blaineley gets her comeuppance from the interns and Geoff gleefully signs off the episode.
Trivia
- This is the only Aftermath episode to have only one song instead of the actual two.
- It's also the only Aftermath where Geoff & Bridgette don't share a kiss.
- Geoff mentions the secret location for the next Aftermath, which foreshadows the events in Hawaii in "Hawaiian Style".
- During "Her Real Name Isn't Blaineley", it's revealed by Geoff that Blaineley's real name is Mildred.
- This episode marks the second time where Bridgette visits Russia, the first time being in the exclusive clip in "Anything Yukon Do, I Can Do Better".
- Trent's comment on him not seeing Gwen's relationship with Duncan coming is a reference to his fears from Action.
- This episode marks the second time since "Can't Help Falling in Louvre" where Noah is involved in a challenge requiring him to navigate through lasers.
