Plot
Alfred's Playhouse is about a dog named Alfred, an emotionally-disturbed, psychopathic man-child wreaked pit bull mix, who tries to forget his merciless and abusive childhood by pretending to be in his own fantasy world. Subsequently, his alter-ego named Dictator Pickles, emerges, who is fundamentally Alfred Alfer, but worse. Dictator Pickles is seen as a psychopath who has fantasies of world domination, he is based off of Hitler as seen by the red arm band. In addition to this mess, Alfred Alfer is seen in the series as needy and lonely in most of the 3 episodes. Furthermore, he is frequently forced to escape his fantasy world, and finds out how harsh the world can be.
There was a move of Alfred Alfer named "Return to the Playhouse," which is much worse than Alfred's Playhouse, and that's saying a bunch. Return to the Playhouse is a 30 minute movie made by Emily Youcis. It involves Alfred Alfer going back to the only home he knows, which is The Playhouse. The story takes place somewhere before his trauma. In the beginning, you can see that Alfred has made a friend, named Labby. Labby is a dog with red, glowing eyes who was first seen in the earliest episode of Alfred's Playhouse. After Labby abandons him, Alfred Alfer is left alone to wander a weird, eerie location that unquestionably doesn't look like earth, more like hell. Alfred tumbles into pure madness after this, creating new violent personas, during the time of all of this, Pickle still torments Alfred Alfer in the past and present.
Why It (intentionally?) Sucks
- It plagiarizes from Pee-Wee's Playhouse, as seen by the title of the show and very similar theme songs. However, it could be a parody.
- The sounds can be very obnoxious at times, exclusively the fairy scene.
- It overuses gross out, especially in episode 2, here are some examples.
- The fairies vomiting, doing funny business (IYKWIM), pooping, peeing and much more.
- A LOT of gross out in the Alfred's Playhouse Movie, such as maggots, corpses, gore, etc.
- Hitler and Nazi references, gags, and more distasteful jokes.
- Toys doing a Nazi hand salute in Return to the Playhouse.
- Dictator Pickles entire existence is just a Hitler reference. He does Nazi salutes whenever he has any screen time, or he's just a terrible person towards Alfred.
- The animation looks really repulsive, disjointed and sloppy. Yes, in the movie too.
- Terrible voice acting, it's like you're hearing the homeless guy down the street named "Cletus" on drugs trying to make a career out of voice acting, but failing miserably.
- Nothing made sense in a bad way.
- Alfred Alfer is seen doing necrophilia in an unnecessary song in Alfred's own movie, "Return to the Playhouse."
- The Movie is also very terrible, with it being 30 minutes of Nazi propaganda.
- "Return to the Playhouse," the Alfred Alfer movie, had very confusing parts to it, such as the strip club scene.
- Stolen art at the end of Return to the Playhouse
- One of the characters is named *N Word*Melon, which is racist considering that the creator, Emily Youcis, is white.
The Only Redeeming Quality
- The animation is somewhat redeemable in Schoolgirl Alfie, but that's about it.
Reception
The show has, for some reason, scored an 4.27 / 5.00 on Newgrounds. It is also considered to be one of the most disturbing and surreal web series on the internet.
