Ali Baba Bunny is a 1957 Merrie Melodies cartoon starring Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, the cartoon was directed by Chuck Jones and was written by Mike Maltese. It was voted #35 in the 50 Greatest Cartoons book.
Why It Rocks
- It is one of the most quotable Looney Tunes cartoons that gives out some of the best dialogue such as "Hassan CHOP!"
- Bugs and Daffy's relationship with each other is very enjoyable especially with Daffy wanting to have all the treasure to himself.
- The animation is nicely done.
- Several funny moments especially Daffy wanting to keep the treasure to himself.
- Mel Blanc as usual gives out a solid performance voicing the characters.
- Excellent music by Carl Stalling and Milt Franklyn.
- Daffy steals the entire show due to his greed, despite his flanderization.
- Great colors and backgrounds by Maurice Noble.
- Bugs Bunny gives out very clever gags such as disguising himself as a genie to fool Hassan.
Bad Qualities
- While the animation is still great, it isn’t as good as the animation for Warner Brothers cartoons from the 1940's.
- Daffy Duck's flanderization is obviously present here, much like Bugs Bunny's other pairings with him, and would obviously get even worse with Daffy's pairings with Speedy Gonzales.
- Some of the Arabic stereotyping in the cartoon can be slightly offensive to some viewers, even for arabic people.
