All That is an American live-action, sketch comedy-variety show created by Brian Robbins and Mike Tollin, which originally aired on the Nickelodeon cable television network from April 16, 1994, to October 22, 2005, lasting ten seasons. It returned on June 15, 2019 with new actors and voice casts.

The series features original short comedic sketches and weekly musical guests aimed toward a younger audience. The show's sketches parody contemporary culture and are performed by a large and varying cast of child and teen actors.

Plot

Saturday Night Live for kids. All That is a zany Saturday night sketch comedy featuring many wacky characters hosted by kids and teenagers.

Why It’s All That

  1. It has plenty of iconic and hilarious recurring sketches such as Good Burger, Coach Kreeton, the Adventures of Superdude, Ask Ashley, Detective Dan, Ishboo, and Vital Information.
  2. The performances of the kid actors are well-done, giving off great deliveries. From Kel Mitchell, to Amanda Bynes, Jack DeSena, Lisa Foiles and many more to count.
  3. It's theme song, sung by TLC, is very memorable and catchy.
  4. Thanks to it's success, many great franchises were made, including:
    • The sketch Good Burger being adapted into a movie, although getting mixed reviews from critics. In fact, Good Burger is so iconic that it became an internet meme.
    • Amanda Bynes getting her own sketch series, the Amanda show, with it's own catalog of sketches.
    • Kenan & Kel, a sitcom starring the titular duo, which even led to Kenan becoming a cast member on SNL.
  5. The 2019 revival, while not as good, is a nice enough continuation to the show.
  6. Many guest stars and musical guests during both old and actual runs of the show.
  7. The show is very quotable, for example:
    • “Dear Ashley, That's ME!"
    • "Hey Clavis, wake up! The show's over!"
    • "Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger, can I take your order?"
    • "SILENCE! THIS IS A LIBRARY!"
    • "Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree, Oh why am I talking to a Christmas tree?"
    • "I HAVE NO IDEA!"
    • "Repair-man-man-man-man-man!!"

Bad Qualites

  1. Like Dan Schnieder's other work, there are many feet jokes which is pretty gross.
  2. Many sketches can be mean-spirited at times, the Island Girls is a notable example of this.
  3. The first revival was not as well received as the first 6 seasons, and 2019 reboot.
  4. The Adventures of Superdude, while funny, can get very repetitive.

Trivia

  • Brian Robbins, one of the two show's creators, became the current Nickelodeon's president, and ran from 2018 to 2021.
