American Ninja Warrior: Challenge is a video game based on the television series American Ninja Warrior. Developed by Gaming Corps Austin and published by GameMill Entertainment, it was released exclusively in North America on March 19, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Why It's Not a Ninja Warrior

  1. The gameplay only consists of quick-time event sequences, which is an awful idea for the basis of a whole game.
  2. The quick time events are seemingly bugged and are hard to do.
  3. The graphics are outdated, and the frame rate is inconsistent and poor (this is not the case if you play it on the Switch undocked).
  4. You can only upgrade your character's stats using money, which is hard to earn because you need to win a challenging day.
  5. The camera angles refuse to show upcoming obstacles on the path until the previous set of the obstacles are completed. Even the first set isn't shown before the run starts.
  6. Terrible physics nearly on par with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5. For example, your character can start jerking around after failing an obstacle before "walking" into water.
  7. The game has a character creator which has feeble character models, and you can only choose your first and last names from a limited selection of name options.
  8. The game has bugs which can crash the game or briefly lock up the game, most noticeable in the Nintendo Switch version.
    • Furthermore, if the game crashes while you're loading an event after selecting it, that event is marked as an instant fail, even though you hadn't played it yet!
  9. Unacceptably long loading times which can sometimes be a full minute long.
  10. It costs $40 at launch!

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. The show's hosts provide their voices, and they do a decent job.
