Plot

Homer tells the story of how Maggie was born.

Why It Rocks

  1. The episode gives a really interesting backstory about Maggie Simpson's birth, and it shows Homer's stress when finding out that Marge was pregnant for the third time.
  2. Homer is very likeable and is shown to genuinely care about his family here, this shown in the last scene of the episode where he has pictures of Maggie in his work office, which he keeps them there because it's for the place where he needs the most cheering up.
  3. A lot of funny moments, like when Homer starts banging on Mr. Burns' head and plays it like a bongo drum and when Homer accidentally mistakes Maggie for a baby boy.
  4. There are so many emotional moments here that will make you feel for the characters, like Homer leaving his dream job at the bowling stadium and the scene where Homer holds Maggie for the first time.
  5. The ending scene where Homer reveals that all of the photos of Maggie are in his office, including a bunch of pictures covering a plaque that says "Don't Forget You're Here Forever" to make it look like the plaque says "Do It For Her" is considered to be one of the most heartwarming scenes in the entire show.

The Only Bad Quality

  1. There two continuity errors in two different scenes:
    • Marge says that when Homer found she was pregnant with any of the kids, he would pull of his hair and scream and run off. Which is false because before Bart's birth in "I Married Marge", Dr. Hibbert says to Homer and Marge that she is pregnant, to which Homer exclaims "D'oh!". Before Lisa's birth in "Lisa's First Word", Marge tells Homer, to which Homer is happy, but Bart flushes his keys down the toilet.
    • When Marge tells Homer her contractions are three minutes apart, a picture of Maggie can be seen hanging on the wall, despite not having been born yet.
