The idea of having a living sock puppet as a superhero is just nonsensical.

Atomic Puppet is a Canadian animated television series created by Jerry Leibowitz and Mark Drop and produced by Mercury Filmworks, Technicolor Animation Productions and Gaumont Animation for Teletoon and Disney XD. The series revolves around the adventures of 7th grader Joey Felt and his partner AP, a world-renowned superhero who's been reduced to life as a powerless sock puppet, until he's placed on Joey's hand. Together, they transform into Mega City's newest superhero duo, Atomic Puppet and Nuclear Boy. It ran from July 18, 2016 to February 21, 2017.
Plot
Mega City's superhero, Captain Atomic suffers a setback when, as he shakes hands with a 12-year-old fanboy named Joey Felt, his disgruntled sidekick Mookie (or Sergeant Subatomic) transforms him into a living sock puppet. The suddenly powerless superhero quickly realizes that the only way he can regain his former powers is to team up with the boy—a dream come true for Joey, but not so much for Captain Atomic. Together, the two form an unlikely and awkward partnership that allows them to become the city's newest superhero duo—Atomic Puppet and Nuclear Boy.
Bad Qualities
- Similar to the majority of Canadian Superhero shows and one other French superhero show, its concept is extremely cliched and even though it really isn't as bad as those shows, as it tries to be a bit different with its plot, it remains generic and disappointing.
- The plot of this show is similar to Coach Me If You Can, another bad French show but a bit better than this one because it takes up the plot of a celebrity who has become a toy who will become the object of his fan except that Coach Me If You Can is better executed and Atomic Puppet is not.
- Mediocre character designs that look like they were stolen from Nickelodeon's The Loud House (which is particularly noticeable with Joey's design). Many of the designs also rip off the character designs from Star vs the Forces of Evil, especially with the secondary characters.
- Similar to Dude That's My Ghost and ToonMarty its French broadcast is terrible with no broadcast on free channels, it was only broadcast on Teletoon in France which makes it completely new in France.
- Quantity over Quality: Similar to other French shows it only lasted one season and this season is long with 52 episodes (26 segments in USA).
- Many villains (including Ms. Erlenmeyer and Absorbo-Lad) swear that they will be back, but it never happens.
- Many episodes were filler.
- Rudolph Mintenberg can be annoying at times.
- There was an episode where Chief Kevlar punishes some of the town for no good reason.
- Sometimes, the father cares more about Bubbles (the family cat) than anything else.
- In the series finale, Mookie, while an iconic villain, publicly announces that he was responsible for Captain Atomic's "disappearance". In the second part, he crosses the line and makes Joey reveal his identity by using Phil as bait
- The show's final episode "The Big Shift" ends on a cliffhanger. leaving possible ideas for a continuation.
Good Qualities
- As mentioned in BQ#1, the plot is quite original but poorly executed.
- The flash animation is very good, thanks to Mercury Filmworks.
- The idea of a superhero turned into a puppet and give it into a super-fan as it's sucessor is very interesting.
- The dynamic of Joey Felt and Captain Atomic (as a puppet) is entertaining.
- The show features an all-star cast, including Eric Bauza and Carlos Diaz.
- Some good moments in some episodes
- In "Sword Sisters", there was an interesting story arc which featured Pauline as a superhero.
- In "Bucket List", Joey went back in time to meet his younger self, which was among the most heartwarming moments.
- The episode "Worm Boy" paid homage to "Spiderman", even when Joey becomes the titular hero after getting bitten by a silkworm.
- There are memorable villains the show has to offer, including Naughty Kitty and Mookie
- Despite the show's short-lived run, it was nominated for two Annie Awards and one Reuben Award.
- The flash animation is very nice to look at, and it can give The Loud House's animation a run for it's money.
- Brilliant and lively soundtrack, including its theme song.
- Depsite it not that bad. Most of the fans find it cool and enteraining
