Attaway General is a live-action web-series distributed by the Indie entertainment studio, Brat TV, and is often considered one of the worst shows produced by the studio.
The series follows a group of misfit teenagers who are forced to become nurses at the local hospital, Attaway General, where they tackle their relationships and skillsets to help the patients brought in.
Why It Sucks
- The acting is poor at best, which makes sense as the show chooses to cast famous TikTokers who have no experience acting, as the main characters. As such, the acting is extremely stiff and wooden, while also being extremely quiet and hard to hear.
- The camera jerks around constantly and can't stay still for very long, which can get annoying.
- The main characters are essentially nothing but cliches, including a shy girl, a mean girl, and a "Bad Boy".
- The main characters also aren't all enjoyable as the show tries too hard to portray them as misunderstood, yet a majority of the time, they're either complaining/causing arguments or walking around the hospital doing nothing.
- The dialogue is uninspired and lazy, often consisting of the characters describing something or providing exposition.
- The show takes itself way too seriously and fails to provide any sort of charm or creativity that Brat TV has brought to their original works.
- The series has a poor grasp of hospital procedures and treatments, such as how they wear the safety gear or the fact that Jack, the Bad Boy of the group, only joined the hospital staff to avoid going to jail, which would realistically never happen.
- The editing for the episodes is jarring, such as characters in the background suddenly appearing somewhere else or the sound of a character talking being heard when nobody's mouth is moving.
- The romance subplot between Georgia and Juan is extremely forced and painful to watch.
- There are moments of product placements or forced advertisements that take up a chunk of the episodes' runtime.
- The pacing is extremely rushed due to the length of the episodes, so characters will suddenly change their minds out of nowhere.
- The episodes end on cliffhangers that fail to arouse suspense from the audience due to how cliche they are introduced.
Redeeming Qualities
- The acting for some of the supporting characters is actually pretty good, despite the poor dialogue.
- The idea of teenagers discovering a longing to help others in a hospital is a unique idea for Brat TV, despite its poor execution.
Reception
From its release in 2020, Attaway General has received overwhelmingly negative reviews from audiences and critics alike, with most criticism going towards the abysmal acting, laughable dialogue, and unoriginal characters and has been negatively reviewed by many well-known YouTube critics, such as Penguinz0 and Pyrocynical. The show currently has a 1.0/10 on IMDb.
