B Positive is an American television sitcom created by Marco Pennette, who also executive produces alongside Chuck Lorre for Warner Bros. Television. It premiered on CBS on November 5, 2020. It was cancelled after two seasons on May 12, 2022.

Plot

B Positive revolves around Drew, a therapist and newly divorced dad who is faced with finding a kidney donor when he runs into Gina, a rough-around-the-edges woman from his past who volunteers her own kidney. Together, they form an unlikely and life-affirming friendship as they begin a journey that will forever impact both of their lives.

Bad Qualities

  1. The jokes are extremely corny.
  2. The season 1 intro is extremely gross and disturbing to watch and it’s supposed to be funny but it’s not at all.
  3. The characters are extremely unlikable and annoying.
  4. Drew’s personality is a little bland and boring.
  5. Rather cheesy and poor writing.
  6. The laugh track is horrendously overplayed.
  7. Maddie is a rip-off of Violent Plunkett from Mom, but she’s likable.
  8. Weak, unfunny, stale, cringeworthy, trashy and forced humor.
  9. The acting (while some of it is good) can be bad and cringe at times.
  10. The show ended on a cliffhanger, with Valley Hills having to fend off the aggressive competition tactics of the bigger, fancier Golden Horizons home, and Gina being too late to declare her love for Drew after he takes off for Alaska, but neither of these were resolved and the show was cancelled.

Good Qualities

  1. The episode “Pilot” was decent.
  2. While Drew is a very bland character, he does have common sense.
  3. Some funny moments here and there.
  4. Some tolerable episodes.
  5. The shows title is a bit creative since it encourages a person to be positive and references a B positive blood type.
  6. The show’s concept is overall pretty good but was executed poorly
  7. The season 1 finale was a great way to end the season.
  8. Season 2 is an improvement over season 1. The theme song was finally changed and is not gross anymore.

Reception

B Positive received a genrally mixed reception from both critics and the general audience, and currently has a 6.2/10 on IMDb.
