Barba Girl is the fourth episode of the third season of As Aventuras de Gui & Estopa, which originally premiered in 2011. The episode focuses on Gui and the gang are spending few days at the beach, but it only rains. Cróquete suggests that they watch DVDs of the Mexican soap opera “Odete a Feia”. Unexpectedly, a Mexican mustache grows on Cróquete, who is the soap opera's biggest fan.
Why It's Not Barba Girl
- First and foremost, Gui, Estopa and Piti are really unlikable and gary stus, as they draw on Cróquete's face with a black pen to make it look like she's wearing a moustache.
- Misleading title card: The title card is misleading, as it shows a girl without a moustache then the 2nd image has a girl wearing a moustache, but she doesn't actually appear.
- Plot Holes:
- Gui, Estopa, Piti and Cróquete went to the beach for few days, how come did the rain appear? How did they even get in to the beach at the beginning? Did they took taxi or what?
- While Gui, Estopa, Piti and Cróquete are watching a soap opera called "Odete a Feia", why do we hear the screaming stock sound effect? Did someone just scream?
- How did the sun and moon appear on a rainy day? That never happens in the real world, they should be hidden.
- While the flashback shows up, then on the 2nd flashback scene, there is a Hello Kitty rip-off toy, while young Cróquete is watching TV.
- Horrible Ending: After Cróquete's moustache disappears, Gui is forced to be watching Odete a Feia marathon, then the lady from that show breaks the fourth wall at the end.
- The Barba Girl toy dolls, as seen on the commercial are ripoffs of Barbie.
Redeeming Qualities
- Cróquete the only likable character in this episode.
- Gui does get comeuppance at the end, despite the horrible ending.
