Bat Pat is a 2015 Italian-Spanish, animated, television series loosely based on the book series of the same title by Roberto Pavanello. It was co-produced by Atlantyca Enterprises, Imira Entertainment, and Mondo TV with the participation of Rai Fiction and Television Espanola. It ran for two seasons and 104 episodes.

Plot

Each episode begins with some mysterious creature causing some sort of chaos in the town of Fogville. Then, a talking, purple bat named Bat Pat and his owners, a trio of kids, the Silver siblings named Martin, Leo, and Rebecca, hear about it and they go to investigate. After they discover just what the creature is, they find out the creature responsible for the pandemonium has some sort of problem. So Bat Pat and the Silver kids try various solutions to help out the creature until they find the right one. Once that's accomplished, the creature is satisfied and he or she stops making trouble. Bat Pat and the kids encounter just about everything from monsters to ghosts to mythical beings.

Why It Rocks

  1. The flat art isn't hard on the eyes and the animation has plenty of smoothness to it.
  2. Despite the repetitive nature of the episodes, there are other parts of the writing of the plots that still make them distinctive enough from one another, so they're still varied in other ways like the creatures that are encountered.
  3. A bevy of great, diverse, likable characters, including the comical Bat Pat himself thanks to his antics.
  4. The character designs are fine, as they have a lot of creativity going for them.
  5. Slamming, punky theme song in the intro.
  6. Most of the voices of the characters in the English dub sound well-voiced.
  7. Plenty of good jokes and gags. Concerning the latter, like the snapdragons gag in "A Big Stink".
  8. The dialogue is also just as well-written.
  9. There are several thrills and chills to be found around here.
  10. The show could be just as great as the books, if not better.
  11. There are some horror elements to it due to certain creatures associated with it and featured here, but at the same time, they're still designed to be more kid-friendly.
  12. The moments of suspense are well-executed.

Bad Qualities

  1. The somewhat repetitive nature of the show still may not be some viewers' kind of thing.
  2. Certain voices in the English dub, like that of Darryl the Dragon from "How To Restrain Your Dragon" may be considered somewhat grating to some.
  3. Some may not care for the gross-out and bathroom humor featured, like a Frankenstein monster-like creature from "Love At the First Fright" having a runny nose. But that kind of humor is featured only occasionally.
  4. When some characters' mouths are closed, their mouths are barely visible, like with Harmonia the Mermaid from "Slip, Slide, and Away" in the scene when she returns to the ocean and she's somewhat in the distance. The drawings of them could've been made not so lightly.
