"Parce-que c'est à partir de là qu'on se rend compte que tout dans ce jeu est à chier! J'veux dire 'Virus' est un jeu pas si mal finalement a coté de 'Batman & Robin', et je pèse mes mots! Non vraiment, ce qui se passe dans ce jeu... c'est grave! C'est grave! Et en plus, si on est fan de l'univers de Batman, mais jouer à ce jeu... c'est aussi plaisant que de se prendre... un concombre dans le cul!"

Batman & Robin is an action-adventure game released for the PlayStation, developed by Probe Entertainment and published by Acclaim Entertainment. It is based on the 1997 movie of the same name. While there existed a Game.com version of Batman & Robin, this page will focus on the PlayStation version.
Why It Still Freezes in Hell
- The controls are sluggish, probably worse than Batman Forever's controls. This can cause some trouble to play the game, thanks to how bad the controls are.
- In order to activate objects, you have to press the "DO" button, and it isn't specified which button is marked as "DO" unless you look in the instructions.
- The game has tank controls, which are ill-suited for a beat 'em up game.
- There are two modes available: fighting and detective. You can't fight in detective mode.
- The driving controls are very stiff, and the Batmobile handles like it's on ice.
- The tutorial is horrible and bombards the player with useless advice one after the other, plus if you dive into the water a tutorial will come out and when you pass the message another tutorial will come out endlessly making the game unplayable.
- The game offers to play Batman, Robin and Batgirl but in this game, only Batman is playable.
- Batgirl can't punch through windows, unlike Batman or Robin. This is pretty weird, like if Batgirl actually had weak arms to punch through windows, compared to Batman and Robin.
- Furthermore, even though she is the fastest character in the game, she does little damage in combat, making her unusable.
- Robin is even worse since he manages the feat of accumulating all the faults of the playable characters while being slow and doing little damage.
- Batman, although he is the only character usable in combat, is very slow.
- Batgirl can't punch through windows, unlike Batman or Robin. This is pretty weird, like if Batgirl actually had weak arms to punch through windows, compared to Batman and Robin.
- The Batmobile is way too big and isn't suited for the narrow roads of Gotham City. This can be a confusion, similiar to WIS#2, since if The Batmobile would be very big, it would crash into buildings very easily from it's sides if this would actually happen.
- Enemies can easily overwhelm you and quickly drain your health. This can be really tedious to play the game if you are close to the enemies, just to make them drain your health so you can lose the game very easily, unless you will just fight with them by pressing some buttons many times until they are defeated.
- After the museum, the game doesn't tell you where you're supposed to go. You have to collect clues, which are scattered around the city and inside certain areas.
- Some clues are hidden inside objects that require destroying, like museum artifacts.
- The game doesn't give you any kind of hints on what to do next. You will have to do something that you have to do by your own, and the game won't even bother to tell you what to do, basically to make you struggle playing this game even more and you won't know what you will have to do unless you will finally realize what to do.
- Some of the locations are mazes which are incredibly difficult to navigate, just to waste people's time. This is also a hard thing for newbies, like if the developers wanted newbies to struggle playing this game.
- Poor draw distance, even Spyro The Dragon had better draw distance than this.
- You only get one life and no continues. Newbies can really get an game over easily if they would play the game badly, mainly for the first time, just to restart the game, similiar to Dick Tracy on the NES.
- The game has a time limit, and if you wait for too long, Mr. Freeze or Poison Ivy commit their crimes which can lead to an instant game over, similiar to getting an instant game over once the timer runs out in level 3 in Batman Forever.
- If you decide to fast-travel to the Batcave to save the game, you are given a 5-minute penalty.
- In almost all levels of the game you often hear an alarm siren that is unbearable and horrible to listen to.
Redeeming Qualities
- The graphics look pretty good for a PS1 game.
- The music sounds awesome.
- Some locations are pretty faithful to the movie.
- An open-world Batman game is a unique idea that was poorly executed, and it was later revisited in the last three installments of the Batman: Arkham series, which pulled it off much better.
