BFDIA 5b is a flash game developed by Cary and Michael Huang, released on February 11, 2013. It is based on Battle for Dream Island Again, where FreeSmart has gotten eaten by Evil Leafy and now needs to escape through her body in creepy and unsettling worlds, and meeting new friends along the way. It was not finished, with the last level "053. I'm Sorry" being the final level in the game, and somehow completing it will take the player to "054. undefined".

Free Qualities

  1. It's a great storyline where the player must help Book, and later Match and Ice Cube, escape Evil Leafy.
  2. Each character has her own abilities:
    • Book is an all-around with average stats.
    • Match is slightly slower, but can jump high and can fall through 1 block gap. She is also immune to fire vents where her tip will catch on fire.
    • Ice Cube is short, can die easily, and can't pick up objects due to her lack of arms, but she is a very fast runner.
  3. Decent controls, some including picking up objects, recovering dead contestants, and throwing.
  4. Cameos from recommended contestant winners also appear: Lego Brick, Waffle, and Tune.
  5. The graphics are very nicely done and eye-catching.
  6. The hand powered recovery center broken in half is an interesting gimmick that allows players to choose who to recover in one spot and recover the contestant in another spot.
  7. It spawned cool mods such as "5*", which adds new characters such as Fanny with the ability to blow objects away, and Lightning with the ability to zap others and electrocute water.
  8. There's a glitch ability where if the player rapidly grabs and tosses two players, they will "fly" and can get over tricky stages, including the impossible "053. I'm sorry" stage. This makes the game great for speedrunning. And in "052. Never look back", players can recover behind the moving spike wall and not worry about time.
  9. The calming yet creepy background music is great, as per many tracks by Michael Huang.
  10. There's one win token hidden in each map, granting an extra fun challenge. However, they don't unlock anything.

Evil Qualities

  1. The game was not finished due to the twins being busy with school, and BFDIA would eventually go on hiatus for 10 years. This lead some features that were intended to release on "March 4" to never get added until modders did so. Pencil, Bubble, and Ruby are also not playable although they along with Tune, Waffle, and Lego Brick are coded.
  2. Despite also being a winning recommended contestant, Get Well Card for Jacknjellify doesn't appear in the game.
  3. Despite the glitches being good for speedrunning, they're still unintended glitches. In addition, if the player exits while recovering, the arms will glitch and stretch to the recovery center and will deem the recovery center unusable.
  4. As mentioned in Free Quality #10, win tokens serve no purpose whatsoever. Not to mention the bonus levels cannot be unlocked either due to not being finished.
