Being Glargg is the 20th episode of the Disney animated series Space Chickens in Space. The episode first aired on November 25th, 2018.

Plot

Chuck falls into a dumpster that turns out to be a portal to Glargg's mind, putting Chuck in control. However, without Glargg's discipline, chaos breaks out at the academy.

Why It Sucks

  1. It is just a Glargg torture episode, meaning that he is turned into the show's punching bag for no reason, and with little to no characters feeling sympathy for him.
  2. Glargg wasn't even that hard on Chuck in the beginning. His punishments seemed somewhat reasonable.
  3. The episode's main focus, apart from making Glargg suffer, is the jokes that revolve around making fun of Glargg's "butt-shaped head", which get annoying and obnoxious very quickly.
  4. It's overall a week parody of Being John Malkovich.
  5. Terrible attempts at humor primarily consisting of butt jokes and gross-out toilet humor, not only is a weak type of comedy, but it is a sense of humor that's not appropiate of Space Chickens in Space and works out better in shows like Breadwinners and Pickle and Peanut. The scene when Glargg's about to blow up a pimple on the top of his head serves as a decent example.
  6. The animation is dissappointingly average for the majority of the episode.
  7. Various cringeworthy moments like when Glargg starts dancing in the auditorium and he eventually becomes a meme.
  8. The scene where Chuck forces Glargg to suspend all the academy rules and let the cadets do anything without consequences is immensely mean-spirited.
  9. The infamous scene where Glargg literally farts out of his head.
  10. Chuck is at his worst in this episode, he's far more unlikable than how he usually is, he acts mean and merciless to Glargg and gets little comeuppance for his actions.
  11. The mean-spirited and cruel tone of the episode feels like it will never end, as it is constantly getting worse and worse for Glargg.
  12. Underwhelming Ending: After the chickens help Glargg recover his confidence and the academy is restored, Blibli remains in Glargg's head and she makes him act like a dog until the episode ends.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The title card is decent and good-looking.
  2. Glargg, Starley and Finley are likable characters.
  3. Blibli's appearances are cute, and Ommm makes a funny appearance at the beginning of the episode too.
  4. The weird beauty shots and faces are, as always, hilarious.
  5. The moral of the episode is at least good, this being not to mistreat teachers because they are people too.
  6. Some of the jokes are actually funny, like Hugo and AIIA referring to Glargg as "Principal Butt-Face".
  7. Chuck at least feels guilt for his actions but it isn't enough to save him from being a horrible person.

Trivia

  • When Niven breaks a door and peaks through the hole, she screams "Here's Niven!", referencing the famous quote "Here's Johnny!" from the well-known film The Shining.
