 Believe it or not, this mediocre episode is not walking on air anytime soon, mainly because of the man of the hour’s actions.

Believe It or Not, Joe's Walking on Air is the third episode of the sixth season of the American animated television series Family Guy, an episode produced for season 5. It originally aired on Fox in the United States on October 7, 2007.
Plot
When Joe feels that his disability is holding Bonnie back from living a full life, he decides to get a leg transplant. Excited about his new ability to walk, Joe engages in extreme sports and soon ditches his current friends for more active ones. Peter and the guys are upset at how Joe is acting and decide to teach him a lesson.
Bad Qualities
- Joe is extremely unlikable and very out of character in this episode as he acts like a complete jerk to his friends now that he is no longer in a wheelchair. The worst part of the episode is when he leaves Bonnie as Bonnie did nothing to deserve this.
- The episode uses the “character changes to the exact opposite of themselves only to revert for the sake of status quo” plot cliche as it did that with Joe by making him able to walk and then have him be recrippled in the end. That cliche has been overused in this show and American Dad.
- Lois herself is no better and shows an early sense of her flanderization by acting like she has control over Peter’s life, notably at the part where Peter and his friends build the men’s club. Also, she takes Bernice‘s advice to crash the men’s party in their club, and dance in there, not listening to Peter. She and her voice were pretty annoying in this episode.
- When Joe said he gave his wheelchair away, the next scene shows he gave it to Chris, in which he used to for fun and roll downhill, instead of giving it to someone who needed it.
- Most of the cutaways were boring, unfunny, and annoying, including the part where Peter hits puberty when he was young. While that aforementioned cutaway is a nice flashback for Peter, it is not that necessary.
- Peter, Cleveland, and Quagmire are basically tortured when Joe gets legs, as they couldn’t keep up with most of the activities they’ve done, and when they decided to re-cripple Joe, for understandable reasons, they didn’t even hit Joe once and were easily beaten, which by the way was not fun to watch, not helping the fact that since Joe is a cop, he was already pretty strong.
Good Qualities
- The concept of Joe being able to walk again is a decent concept, but it was executed poorly.
- Peter, Quagmire, Cleveland, and Bonnie are still likable in this episode.
- The Good Morning scene where the guys all sing is admittingly hilarious.
- "SO SAY GOOD MORNING!"
- There were some other funny moments in the episode, such as Stewie being scared of the hole in the house, which is also his room, and the scene where Dr. Hartman and Carter have a conversation where their voices sound alike since they are both voiced by Seth MacFarlane.
- These funny quotes: "NO MERCY!" and "MY PERFECT ASS!!!"
- Joe wanted to walk again so he can be active and not drag Bonnie down for helping him, which was sweet of him, although he did become a jerk after he got his new legs.
- Good Ending: Bonnie got a hold of Joe’s gun to shoot his legs down, wanting her husband back, even though she shot him in the wrong places, which was funny. Joe tells her that he’ll do it himself, which he did, admitting defeat. At the Clam, when the guys hang there and recover, Joe also apologizes to them for his rude behavior, and they forgive him. Peter also did a joke saying they can all go for a nice long walk once they all recover, which Joe cheers, until he realizes he can’t walk again and that he was tricked, to which the rest of the guys laugh, and Peter says "Joke's on you!".
