Ben 10: Alien Force is an action-adventure video game based on the first two seasons of the American animated television series of the same name. The game was released in 2008 in North America and Australia and in 2009 in Europe.

Why It Sucks 10 Times

  1. The gameplay is repetitive and can get old even halfway through the first level. All you ever do is smash buttons just to beat up the enemies.
  2. Mediocre graphics, which look like a GameCube game.
  3. It uses the "platform sinking" cliché in a beat 'em up game, which does not mix well.
  4. Just like Protector of Earth, you only get 5 aliens, which shows D3 Publisher did not learn from their last game. Even worse, you start off with only two. At least the 5 aliens in Protector Of Earth made sense, because it was connected to the story. In this game, they are not connected to the story.
  5. Lazy game over screen which just shows the word "Defeated."
  6. Extremely ugly menu screens. Sometimes, you may even get jumpscared by the menus due to how scary and ugly they look.
  7. Very little replay value.
  8. The platforming can be awkward.
  9. There are only 9 levels.
  10. The levels are extremely long and sometimes it will feel like hours to complete one.
  11. At the first level, it tells you to break some kind of gate to access through, but it is very hard to find the gate, making it semi-impossible to find the gate. Even worse, it doesn't give you any directions.
  12. The controls can sometimes be unresponsive.
  13. The game has a dirty trick to get you to do more stuff. For example, on Level 1 there's something you can do, but you can't do it unless you have Spidermonkey, which is later unlocked after Level 1!

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Decent soundtrack.
  2. This game is the only Ben 10 game to have it's own unique antagonist made specifically for this game (Gorvan), as all the antagonists in the other Ben 10 games were the ones from the show, like Hex, Vilgax, Queen Bee, Albedo, Incurseans, the Weatherheads, Khyber, etc. Gorvan later appeared in Omniverse.
  3. Kevin and Gwen are playable characters.
  4. The bonus making of movie is really good.
  5. Some people may find this game nostalgic.
  6. The story is good. It feels like it came straight out of the show.
  7. Good voice acting.
  8. The DS version is a huge improvement, as it is considered harder than the console versions, has a puzzle element, and has overall better graphics, controls, presentation, sound, and gameplay.
  9. At least it isn’t as bad as Ben 10 Alien Force: The Rise of Hex.

Reception

The home console and PSP versions received mixed reviews from critics while the DS version received mixed to positive reviews. There are some Ben 10 fans who like this game. The game also sold extremely well.
