A bleep censor is the replacement of a profanity or classified information with a beep sound (usually a 1000 Hz tone) in television and radio. It is mainly used in the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Japan. Due to its high frequency and sounding out of place among speech, many people consider it annoying.

Bad Qualities

  2. Many people prefer to watch uncensored content over the ones with censor bleeps.
  3. There are some videos on YouTube in which there are not targeted at younger viewers but censor bleeped so just because you censor bleep a swear word on a YouTube video, doesn't mean it's 100% family friendly, which just makes these censors completely pointless.
  4. The 1000 Hz tone sound effect is overused in many pieces of entertainment media where swearing is censored. (Like YouTube videos, TV shows, etc)
  5. Bleep censors can be an insult to people who support free speech.
