Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is an 2024 film, and the third film in the Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise, following Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Plot

Sonic, Tails and Knuckles face a powerful and mysterious new adversary, Shadow the Hedgehog. The trio forms an unlikely alliance with Dr. Robotnik in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.

Why It Reaches the Right Edge

1. This movie is darker than the first movie, mostly because of Shadow the Hedgehog.
2. Jim Carrey is as Dr. Robotnik, not one, but two characters, as he plays Gerald Robotnik, which is really interesting.
3. There's callbacks to the previous movies like when Sonic finds his childhood cave he used to live on and when Tails relaized that Eggman survived after the battle from the 2nd film.
4. The CGI is gorgeous and a massive improvement over the two films, especially the Knuckles TV series.
5. The characters are still likable, except Rachel.
6. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles team up with Dr. Robotnik here. Though they eventually get betrayed.
7. The song "Run It" by Jelly Roll, despite not fitting into the franchise, is quite addictive and fun to listen to.
8. The Live and Learn song actually appears in the movie during the scene where Sonic and Shadow become super versions of themselves while trying to stop Gerald. It also played during the introducting at one point albiet in a soft guitar version.
9. Good humor such as the moments when Eggman and eventually Stone and Shadow warch a parody of a spanish soap opera, Sonic joking about Godzilla and Hello Kitty on his way to Japan, Knuckles wanting to fight Shadow during his first encounter in Japan, Sonic speeding his way through the GUN headquarters and mishaps happen, Eggman and Gerald dancing while they don't get hurt by the security lasers, Sonic joking about Tom Cruise, Knuckles explaining that hes scared of Casper the Friendly Ghost, Sonic calling Shadow Hot Topic, etc.
10. Shadow is an incredible character here as he is a character you can symphathise with not to mention that he is also intimidating due to his personality. His flashbacks with Maria are also wholesome.
11. Emotional moments like the already mentioned flashbacks with Maria and Shadow, Tom legit getting badly hurt from Shadow which caused Sonic to get incredibly angry to the point of seeking revenge, Sonic and Knuckles arguing over the Master Emerald due to Sonic's trauma, Shadow and Eggman sacrificing themsevles (though Shadow survives in the post credits), Eggman's speech which touches Agent Stone, Sonic and Shadow having a meaninful conversation prior to them becoming super.

"Ow The Edge" Qualities

1. A common criticism in this movie is no Amy and Rouge. Sure, this might be excused because of the promotion of Shadow the Hedgehog and Gerald Robotnik, but it could get wors, when you realize Gerald Robotnik seems to be replacing Amy and Rouge. Ironically, there is No Rouge, but they introduced a new human named Director Rockwell. They also added Rachel and Randall back in, when absolutely a lot of people did not want Rachel back in the movie, and if you removed Rachel and Randall in the movie, then Amy and Rouge could be in it. However, Amy does appear in the post credits scene.
2. Despite good humor, sometimes it can be a but cringy but most of the jokes still land. Also the jokes can sometimes cause some extreme moodswings in certain scenes that are meant to be emotional mainly due to Eggman.
3. The scene where Tom switches between various disguises during a heist can be a bit uncanny.
