What I mean is, what determines what type of media is using this as an excuse for the poor quality of their product? Does it have to be explicitly said my the creators? If it was intended for children, and is poorly received, then does it count? What if the problem doesn't have to do with the fact it treats its audience like they're stupid, but it has to do with something else like sloppy writing or poor production values? What if it's too inappropriate for children? Then would it apply? Please explain.
