Bomberman (ボンバーマン, Bonbāman) is a 2005 video game developed by Racjin for the Nintendo DS. It was released by Hudson Soft in Japan on May 26, 2005, and published worldwide by Ubisoft. The game is notable for its chibi art style, previously seen in the Bomberman Land series. Part of the Bomberman franchise, it is the first entry to be released on the platform. A sequel, Bomberman 2, was released in 2008.

Why it's Still A Bomb

  1. The graphics are good and colorful graphics for a 2005 Nintendo DS game, they also exploiting the 2D very well for a 2005 Nintendo DS game.
  2. The design of the character are cute and adorable and is also similar of those of Bomberman Land, especially on the game cover in the NA/EU cover.
  3. When you collect power up, you can select the power up you want at any time which is a great touch and was later used in Bomberman on PSP.
  4. The controls are once again great and simple, just like any Bomberman game.
  5. The soundtrack is decent
  6. The game have a total of 100 levels to complete, which make this game not short and unlike Act Zero you can actually save.
  7. The bosses are decent for Bomberman standard, unlike other Bomberman games with terrible boss fight due to the hard difficulty and being unfair in general.
  8. The levels all have varied theme and are good to not make this game feel repetitive, despite having the same gameplay though the game.
  9. The levels design is also varied.

Bad Qualities

  1. The ending is pretty rushed. After you beat the final boss, there are only a image of the select world screen and then it scroll right to the credits.
  2. When you die, Bomberman lost all the power ups he selected, Thankfully if you have some power ups in the inventory you can select the power up you want as stated above.

Reception

The game received mostly favorable reviews from critics, The game have a score of 75 on Metacritic, GameSpot give the game a 7.8/10, IGN give a 7.5/10 and in Japan, Famitsu give it a 27/40.
