Synopsis

The Titans give Starfire a bucket list of activities to accomplish.

Why This Episode Is Not on the Bucket List

  1. This episode's main and most glaringly obvious problem: When Starfire had to “make a difference” in a child’s life, it’s very cruel and unwatchable. The Titans show up with a real baby that they apparently “saved”. When asked what to do with the baby, Starfire says to take care for it. The Titans tell her no because the baby doesn’t need care even though she does. This is when it gets worse; they begin to fight over who will raise the infant. Then they get angry and start fighting over the baby like toddlers fighting over a toy. They start pulling and tugging her, flailing her around, and throwing her around like a ragdoll, and naturally, the baby cries. Starfire then takes the baby, chucks it on a bus, and is praised for her behavior. This is child abuse, and in real life, the baby would have died or become disabled for life. It’s very cruel and unacceptable and even shocking that Cartoon Network even allowed this scene to be in the episode!
  2. This is a Starfire torture episode because of what is stated in the first reason for what the Titans do to her.
  3. The Titans themselves are unlikable because they force Starfire to have a Bucket List.
    • Starfire did not want to have a bucket list in the first place, but the Titans got her one anyways. While having goals in life is good, a person should not be forced to do something that they don’t want to do, even if it gives them a quality of life. Starfire had the right to make her own goals and decisions. It is also offensive because it portrays her as being dependent.
  4. Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman's appearance is insulting to the original movie The Bucket List, which ironically is also produced by Warner Bros.
  5. The “Family Matters” joke is incredibly unfunny.
  6. There is an animation error of Robin's mouth being overlapped by his eyes.
  7. Bad ending: It’s far in the future and the Titans are senior citizens again, Starfire, after achieving her “life goals” befriends an anamorphic bucket. However, Beast Boy is angry with the bucket because he cheated on his previous wife, he kicks the bucket, and it dies.
    • To rub some salt on the wound, the Titans don't get punished for forcing Starfire doing something she doesn't want.
    • Starfire shouldn’t even kick the bucket because the bucket list was not hers to begin with, the Titans just printed out one online and gave it to her. The bucket list was clearly someone else’s.

Redeeming Qualities

NOTE: These redeeming qualities do not excuse the episode's content.

  1. Although the baby received horrible treatment from the Teen Titans, her design is cute, and it makes the audience feel sorry for the poor baby.
    • Come to think of it, the baby is the only likable character.
  2. The animation and art style, while it is still extremely bright in some ways, can still be great to look at.
  3. The voice acting is still decent in this episode as to be expected.
