Candy is Dandy is an episode of The Powerpuff Girls from season three.

Summary

The Mayor rewards the Girls for saving the day with candyーand their addiction proves to be bittersweet.

Very Sour Qualities

  1. The Powerpuff Girls are at their absolute worst in this episode. After they pop the candy, they want the candy so bad, but the mayor warned them that they can have it once per saving the day. They become impatient for the next emergency, so they hired Mojo Jojo to attack Townsville so the girls can be rewarded more candies for save the city from Mojo. Several days later, the girls yell at the mayor for letting Mojo steal the candy jar, causing the mayor to break down. The girls become infuriated, brutally beating up Mojo in jail.
  2. Although good, the opening starts with problem, with the Narrator stating that Townsville is the "sweetest city of them all". It turns out to be bittersweet when the monster attacks Townsville, but at least the girls defeat it.
  3. Plot Hole: It seems the girls never tasted candy before, but in Just Another Manic Mojo, we saw the girls happily lick lollipops that Mojo offered.
  4. The scene where Mojo Jojo is brutally beaten up is painful and disturbing to look at even by the show's standards.
  5. Sometimes the candy jar can be either a lot or a few, which is somewhat an error or a goof.
  6. Bittersweet Ending: Although the girls apologized the mayor for yelling at him, and admitted that they were responsible for convincing Mojo to commit crimes, and get rewarded with candy, the mayor forgives them for telling the truth, and rewards them with candy. After that, the mayor and the girls get bloated, and Mojo is still in pain from the beatdown. Then the narrator says that the Powerpuff Girls saved the day, despite they didn't do anything heroic aside from the beginning and are seen laying down with stomach aches and the word "THE END" comes up in pink with black outlining and little yellow stars.
  7. The episode itself even sent out a terrible message showing that being rewarded by being selfish is okay and waiting on a real emergency is wrong, as shown by Bubbles, Buttercup and Blossom constantly faking emergencies over and over again.

Sweet And Dandy Qualities

  1. The beginning of the episode is good as the girls attack the monster who devouring the city.
  2. The girls show remorse after they beat Mojo brutally after they realize what the candy has done to them.
  3. This episode teaches that addiction can make yourself worse.
  4. The episode succeeds at getting you to feel sorry for Mojo Jojo.
  5. The mayor is tolerable even though he was partly at fault for the girls' addiction.
