CarGo is a 2017 American direct-to-video computer-animated comedy musical movie produced by The Asylum. This is The Asylum's third animated feature and a rip-off of the Cars movies made by Pixar.

Plot

A young car learns the importance of family when he embarks on a mission to rescue his father, who's been sent to Clunker Island to be repurposed as scrap metal.

Why You Shouldn't Move Your Family Here

  1. As mentioned earlier, this movie is a rip-off of the Cars franchise by Disney and Pixar, which started in 2006, and had a third film being made around the same time this film came out. So, this means it is worth noting that the film tries to rip off Cars 3 specifically, as it and CarCo released in the same month.
  2. The car puns are unfunny and boring.
    • For example, there's a character named "Cabigail", which is a terrible pun on "Abigail" and "cab".
  3. Mediocre animation, much like with Izzy's Way Home and Trolland.
  4. Most of the voice acting, while good, sadly never syncs up with the mouth movements, loads of flickering, and model (and camera) clipping.
  5. There's a scene where Danny pukes oil during class, which is really gross.
  6. Predictable and very boring story.
  7. The scene set in the theater might count as filler.
  8. The demolition derby scene looks so much like the one in Thunder Hollow from Cars 3.
  9. The camera angles can be nauseating.
  10. Speaking of the mouth movements, the characters talk with their whole bodies moving, which is very distracting and rather weird.
  11. If a car is old or has a malfunction, they're sent to Clunker Island, where they're taken apart and made into new cars. This is basically the equivalent of taking old or dying people and making new people out of their corpses, which is straight up terrifying.
  12. False advertising: In the cover, Danny’s dad is orange, but in the movie, he is blue.
  13. Speaking of Danny's dad, the scene where he gets wrecked by Rudy is very brutal, even for a kids' film.
  14. Animation errors: For example, the female purple car's rear wheel can be seen moving backwards, even though she was moving forward.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. There is an unexpected Sharknado reference that is funny, complete with Danny’s dad looking at the poster while saying "I hated that movie. It was just too unrealistic. A tornado full of cars. Could never happen! They just don’t make 'em like they used to. When I was your age, I was in love with Greta Carbo, and I wanted to be Sean Carnerry.".
  2. The character designs are very cute for a low-budget movie.
  3. The voice acting is surprisingly good.
  4. For something made by The Asylum, a few of the songs are actually pretty good and are sung well (kudos to Haley Joel Osment AKA: The voice of Danny because he is actually a really good singer.)
  5. The animation can look decent some scenes, but that's not saying much.
  6. There are surprisingly not any plot holes found throughout the film.
