Care Bears: Unlock the Magic is an animated children's television series produced by Cloudco Entertainment for Boomerang. The series is based on the Care Bears franchise, and is the sixth series, following Care Bears and Cousins, to be based on the franchise.

Plot

Care Bears: Unlock the Magic follows the adventures of Good Luck Bear, Funshine Bear, Cheer Bear, Grumpy Bear, and Share Bear as they embark from their life in Care-A-Lot on a new adventure through the Silver Lining, a strange world neighbored by the Whiffles, who are a group of innocently happy creatures that plant seeds to keep the magical land of Care-A-Lot and the neighboring Silver Lining growing. The Care Bears spread caring and sharing throughout the land as they learn to rely on their friendship, courage, and use a bit of their belly badge power.

However, the ego-driven nemesis of the Care Bears, Bluster and his Bad Crowd, try to stop them from succeeding at their mission, as his goal is to turn the Silver Lining into Blusterland. The Care Bears also retrieve help through the Caring Tower from their friends Bedtime Bear, Tenderheart Bear, and Wish Bear. Dibble the Whiffle accompanies the Care Bears along the way.

The Care Bears are sent on the road for the first time in this series, as they explore wonderful and never-before-seen areas that surround Care-A-Lot called the Silver Lining. Due to this, they meet new creatures and employ their powers and wits.

Why It Unlocks the Magic

  1. The Flash animation is good, and makes the Care Bears look cuter than ever before.
    • Unusually for a flash-animated series, the backgrounds are painted by hand.
  2. Dibble is a charming addition to the team who has a cute voice and personality.
  3. Bluster, the villain of the series is quite funny and egotistical.
  4. Great 1980's style music.
  5. Well-done voice acting.
  6. The Silver Lining is a mysterious place with lots of fun locations that the Bears explore.
    • Each location in the Silver Lining is unique towards one another, such as a Valley of the Shamrocks, and a flower area where you can lose your voice.
  7. Even though the series is aimed towards an older audience than the other Care Bears series, it still has the charm of them with decent morals.
  8. A wide range of stories which could range from the Bears trying to stop one of Bluster's schemes or simple slice-of-life tales where the Bears try to help a creature or the Whiffles with a problem they're having.
  9. Fast-paced formula.

Bad Qualities

  1. Bluster, while funny, isn't really that threatening to the Care Bears and comes across as a Harmless Villain, much like with most modern Care Bears villains. Not even Robbie or Malcom are threatening, either.
  2. Only 10 of the Care Bears appear in this series (5 main, 3 major and 2 minor), and it doesn't include Humans or the Care Bear Cousins either.
  3. The series was limited to the Boomerang channel and streaming service in the United States, but luckily it doesn't apply internationally as it airs on other TV channels.
    • In fact, Boomerang itself has screwed over the series, as other regions outside the States have gotten episodes way before they did, and the show now only airs at 7:00 in the morning.
