Cartoon Beatbox Battles is an American animated Web Series created by Adym Steven Evans (better known as Verbalase). The first episode was uploaded to YouTube on March 19th, 2016.

Premise

Cartoon Beatbox Battle is a series about 2 characters from 2 different franchise beatboxes battling in each episode (Minus the Season 1 Finale) where they roast, rap, and beatbox against each other. Once both performances are over, the viewers have to vote on which one is better and whichever character wins that battle gets to move on to the next round! (Season 1 only)

Why It Wins Cartoon Beatbox Battles

  1. First off, the concept of fictional characters beatboxing against each other in each episode is pretty cool, it's similar to that of ERB or Video Game Rap Battles but with, beatboxing.
  2. Each episode's performance is phenomenal! It has great beatboxing, good roast, and great performance overall.
  3. The animation (Both 2018-2020 and New) is pretty good.
  4. The voice acting for the characters is on point to how they sound, verbalase does great voice impressions.
  5. After episodes come out, a few days later verbalase post the solos of them, so people don't have to wait in the episode for the solos to start and they can just listen to them right away.
  6. It spawned a lot of other great beatbox series, such as Cartoon Beatbox Lessons, Cartoon Beatbox Collabs, Cartoon Beatbox Battles All-Mixed Up, etc.

Bad Qualities

  1. Animation in earlier episodes is not that good.
  2. The animators tend to trace some of their frames, some examples include Goofy being mad at Patrick in Patrick VS Goofy, the Mario trophies in Mario VS Sonic, and Ugly Sonic from the same episode as the latter.
  3. Ever since Patrick VS Thanos, the fans would sometimes vote on a character, most notably Patrick.

Reception

Cartoon Beatbox Battles was met with positive reception from many audiences and critics alike. The series spawned a whole community and many series inspired by Cartoon Beatbox Battles (Such as Fictional Beatbox Fightouts, Hydro's YouTuber Battles, Fanmade Cartoon Beatbox Battles (Ali Mohomadani), etc.). The show currently holds a rating of 9.0/10 on IMDb.

Trivia

  • The first episode of Cartoon Beatbox Battles was Mickey Mouse VS Spongebob
    • Eventually on April Fools Day of 2022 verbalase would premiere a remaster of the episode.
  • So far no Cartoon Beatbox Battles episodes have premiered in January.
  • Despite being for kids, the show does have some adult jokes in it, mostly from Deadpool.
  • As of Season 2, verbalase has removed the tournament bracket style from Cartoon Beatbox Battles. This is mainly due to biased voters and him wanting more variety of characters.
