"Chaos Control Freaks", originally titled in Japan as "Supersonic Hero Appears!", is the first episode of the anime series, Sonic X. It first aired on 6 April 2003 and 23 August 2003 in Japan and the United States, respectively.
Plot
Cream is locked inside Eggman laboratory and when Sonic attempt to rescue her, he destroyed the machine that had the Chaos Emeralds, which had made him and his friends warping to Earth, the adventure for getting out of that world start here.
Why It's Far From Being A Freak
- It pave the way for the plot of Sonic X, since in the beginning it show Sonic and friends in their world until Sonic accidently destroy the machine that hold the Chaos Emeralds, making them warping to the Earth world, and it were the show started, in other words, this episode is an amazing way to start the series.
- All the characters are not only likable but also well introduced, with Sonic, Knuckles, Cream, Dr. Eggman and more.
- Sonic is the best character of this episode because he saved Cream from Eggman and also he cause a lot of funny moments in the episode, such as when he run with a F1 pilot that try to capture him.
- A few funny moments such as when Sonic got in the human world and that he doesn't know what going on and you got the police officer, who try to capture Sonic, and when they though they got him, he run and the officers goes with him, or even the race with the F1 pilot, which is very funny because of Sonic attitude.
- The fight that Sonic had with Eggman is very decent, you got Sonic who first run to dodge Eggman's missiles, and he got in the Eggman base, when he fight with a robot made by Eggman, the way he did destroy was fun and greatly executed, even though it was what made him and the others warping to Earth, including Sonic himself.
- The title card is very good, and had lot of beautiful details.
- For a first episode, the animation is great and it doesn't had many animation errors unlike other episode 1 from other animes, much like the very first episode of Naruto.
- Great Ending: After Chris save Sonic from drowning, Sonic and Chris does meet themself and Chris got blew his mind that Sonic can talk, and they start a new friendship until it will continue in the next episodes.

- In the Japanese version, just as Sonic starts running backwards, "SONIC DRIVE", the Japanese opening theme of Sonic X, plays for a section of the episode until Sonic runs off the bridge.
- A clip of the beginning of this episode is played during the 4Kids Entertainment crossover The Fight for the FoxBox.
- Numerous scenes, including those that had Knuckles, Bocoe, Cream and Cheese were absent from this clip. There are voices added as the "alarm" during the initial assault and the lines have been re-written to fit with the context of the crossover.
