Plot

Dexter participates in the 4th Annual Junior Chess Tournament, but he gets interrupted by his mother.

Good Qualities

  1. The scene where Dexter beats his first opponent in chess as the former made a clever checkmate after the latter's checkmate is good.
  2. When a contestant says "Is that your mom?", Dexter blurts out that he does not have a mother, and it is ironically humorous.
  3. Dexter calling out his mom for not understanding the spirit of chess is satisfying, leading to an emotional moment.
  4. There is a speech where Dexter's mom, while having a blue paint on her face and holds pom-pom, is good, but it got backfired when she shows her undies to him.
  5. Good Ending: Despite the plot hole, Dexter's mom stole the trophy from the winner and his father from the fight offscreen, causing Dexter to say she is the best.
  6. "Is that your mom?"

Bad Qualities

  1. This is a Dexter torture episode, as he gets interrupted by his mom because of the latter's loud noise and cheering.
  2. This episode is also a filler with Dexter's mom interrupting Dexter and others in playing chess.
  3. The scene where everyone humiliates Dexter for letting his mom show his undies is mean-spirited.
  4. There is a plot hole at the end of the episode, it is never explained how she stole the trophy from the winner because the latter's father is obnoxious, since he mocks Dexter's mom for being a loser.
  5. Dexter's mom is annoying in this episode, though she redeemed later at the end.
