Clinically Obese Super Mario Bros. (also called Super Sized Mario Bros. according to the title screen) is a Flash game based on the Super Mario sub-series starring the Mario characters being fat. It was designed by BigFuzzyKitten as a tribute to Fatferaligatr, supposedly a user on Encyclopedia Dramatica (it is unknown what the "ED" on the title screen is supposed to stand for), and published on Newgrounds in 2009.[1]

The developer of the game stated that he made this game due to severe boredom, and intentionally made it bad by "not adding any redeeming qualities or giving it new features", and instead made the characters overweight.

Why It Intentionally Got Fat (In A Bad Way)

  1. The concept of the game itself is incredibly weird to begin with: All of the characters in this game are overwhelmingly obese, including Mario, the enemies and Bowser. The "jump" button only makes Mario hit and break blocks above him with his head, due to his obesity.
  2. The gameplay is unbelievably lazy and boring. All you have to do to finish the game is keep moving to the right to knock down every enemy and pipe you touch, while you can move over bottomless pits, since jumping will only result in Mario hitting blocks with his head. There is no strategy whatsoever.
  3. It's extremely short with only two levels. The first one is overworld-themed and the second one takes place in Bowser's castle (disguised as a McDonald's restaurant, more about it below).
  4. Rushed-looking game assets and animations mostly consisting of ugly drawings made using the brush tool in Flash. Especially in the second level which takes place in Bowser's castle, the background is just a green-black gradient.
  5. The "McDonald's" restaurant Mario enters in after finishing the first level is actually a fake one that is a disguised Bowser's castle. This might have confused players into thinking they would eat fast food to make Mario even more fat.
  6. If you just touch Bowser in the castle level, the bridge you were standing on will instantly break and you'll fall down into the pit, while Bowser continues floating for no reason.
    • Not to mention, that is the only way to beat as well as to die in the game.
  7. The game over screen you get when you die in the game just displays a capital letter N with a tilde (Ñ), which makes no sense at all.
    • Due to the quality of the game, it's unknow if that "Ñ" was added on purpose or of an oversight by the creators.
  8. The title screen is incredibly bland, as it's just a still image of Super Mario Bros.'s title screen, but with the word "SIZED" slapped on the title and other comments.
    • Also, on the bottom of the title screen, you can see a indefinitely scrolling text saying "I HATE MAKING TITLE SCREENS", which is unnecessary.
  9. When you play for second time, you can no longer play the second level because there's a bug where Mario dies as soon as the level starts. And to rub salt on the wound, the music repeats in an infinite loop and there is no way to remove it. So it's quite uncomfortable to play with two musics playing at the same time.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. The music of the first level is decently catchy.
